Fiberoptic sight

I have found that fiberoptic sights are easier to see on a shotgun. I am over 60, and lately I tend to shoot my gun that has a fiber optic sight, better than my steel sights on my old guns. Any opinions?
 
I like them. Not enough to replace all my other sights with them. I think maybe they show up in my peripheral vision. I've found out I can get a similar effect with some 100 grit on aluminum or brass.

I think those shotguns made in the '50s, or probably steel sites. But that isn't a bad idea. The 870 that I have has a white fiber optic sight on it, that I think I had a gunsmith installed for me. It may have come from the factory like that it was made in 1996 or 7 I think and it's camel, I think it's a three and a half inch gun.

I know same here. The times i have 10000 percent focused on the bird, i miss. I got called out saying its impossible to see the sight if youre focused on the bird. Then how come i do!? Im focused on the bird, but theres a blurry dot in front of it that’s the sight. Otherwise, why do high end trap
And sporting clays guns have beads? Reading all that “advice” got me missing. When i just shoot like i shoot, im usually 3-4 shells for a limit.

My red bead/sight got knocked off my main bird gun 20+ years ago, my shooting improved…same thing happened on my Benelli ultralight a year or two after I bot it, same thing…that’s my go-to gun…

In theory the mid and end bead help you make sure you have a consistent mount, after that you aren’t supposed to peek at them.

In reality they look cool, I’m convinced many of the doodads on high end trap shotguns are to break the grip on the wallet, not the target. Seems to me that any old pipe pointed in the right direction will break the bird.

Now, durability over the lifetime of heavy shooting is a different ball of wax; but that isn’t visible.
 
I shoot with both eyes open and try hard not to actually 'look' at the front bead.
