Ever gotten in trouble while outdoors alone?

We used to hunt the Missouri River for geese, what time the boat tipped over, luckily that was in October but I didn't lose my shotgun and it was a warm day for October. But yeah floating Rivers, and duck hunting, pheasant hunting around ice yep I've been in some very sketchy situations.

Late season, had two birds and was headed home. Had to pass a WIA that I had shot many birds at in past seasons but hadnt walked it this specific year. Thought I'll jump in, walk 100 yards and see if we can get lucky. Had a one year old lab and 8 yo shorthair. They get birdie right away and head into the cattails. I know from previous seasons it holds water but seemed to be knee high or less. Was a high water year but i wasnt putting two and two together being it was Jan and very cold, around 0 that day. We clear through the thickest of the cattails and the rooster jumps out long, o well lets go back to the car. As i turn my shorthair goes through. Weird, but in the moment there was never a thought, just go get her. Got her out and turned back to get out of there. I fell through, I'm 6'0 and was above my shoulders. At the time was 19 and in very good shape. Jumped out ok the first time but as I got out my lab goes through. Get him out and I go through again shortly after. They know something is wrong so always coming over to me to "help" obviously just dumped them in with me. Never a thought I wasn't going to go get either of em when they went in. This happened 5 times before somehow by the grace of God we all made it to shore. Wouldnt have made it I dont think if we went through one more time, hypothermia had set in and couldnt hardly function to get out the last time. Got back to the car and keys were in my pocket but couldnt move my fingers to get inside the pocket to get the keys (lesson learned, i never take keys out of ignition anymore for this reason when hunting). stripped down right there, middle of nowhere, got the keys after about 5 mins and sat in the car for an hour before moved an inch. Won't ever forget that one and changed my opinion on walking any frozen sloughs
