English Setter Puppies

So true she is doing very well, tail seems to be getting shorter everyday....lol
 
One week away from puppy day and I finally got out and took some pictures. It's going to get hot again, so this might be it for awhile.

Pups are sold and doing well in their new homes. I kept 1 from the 1st litter and 4 from the second litter. I'm nuts! Nothing new there!
 
You are just a gluten for setters nothing wrong with that! River is doing well, today she was able to find/bump her first woodcock and I was able to drop the bird. She also did a nice job if finding the dead bird. Hopefully this is a start to a great hunting career.
 
That's a great start! Hope the weather holds so that gets repeated with points several times this fall!
 
I really want a bird dog!! My only problem is that in the neighborhood I live in, we have a home owners association and they like to tell us how we can live.. Our back fence is only 36" tall and I can't put a taller one in.. We have a big backyard and a nice pond behind our house, but I don't want the dog to jump the fence and get loose.. :rolleyes:

Hunting dogs want to hunt. They're not trying to escape, just fulfilling their heritage. As the human in the picture, we're responsible for protecting them against their desires overriding their safety. Kennels aren't punishment, they are home. If size matters in this instance, a Scott kennel may be the answer when the supervisor isn't home. Any breed of hunting dog will fit your situation if you do your part.

I you work with your dog it will learn that your 36" fence means they have to stay within it. I would have no problem containing the Brittanys I've owned with a 36" fence. I also think if you get a female and have her spayed the dog is much less likely to want to roam and will stay within the fence. You should use the fence to contain the dog only when you are around. When you are gone the dog should be kenneled or crated.
