English Setter Litters

I have two setter litters due about April 10. The first litter is a repeat breeding of Mesquite Ridge Kosmo (Ch. The Insider X Grouse Ridge Paris) bred to Prairie Drifter Pearl (Ch. Grouse Ridge Reroy X Grouse Ridge Jugs). Last year's pups from this litter have 12:00 tails, plenty of run and point, and natural instincts to point and retrieve.

The second litter is again sired by Mesquite Ridge Kosmo to Prairie Drifter Sagebrush (son of Grouse Ridge Reroy to Prairie Drifter Magpie). Sage is my best birdfinding female. Her pedigree includes Grouse Ridge Reroy,Grouse Ridge Sage, Havelock Blacksmith, Destinare, Tricky Dick, and Trail's End Tomoka. For more information call Troy Smith at (620)532-5900.

Thanks Maynard! I'm trying to not count these chickens before they hatch, but the females are showing and were successful whelping their last litters. These should be exceptional bird dogs!

Thanks Oldandnew! I'll take that a bit further and hope there are enough birds this fall to carry them way down the road toward becoming a bird dog!!!

The girls have both whelped. Pearl dominoed on the 7th presenting us with 4 males and 4 females. Sage joined the movement on the 11th with 3 males and 5 females. All the pups are black and white or tricolored. Sage's litter looks really old fashioned as all have at least 1 body patch and one or two have as many as 5. Pearl's litter has two males with body spots and the rest are primarily masked with white bodies. These are two very nice litters. It'll be fun watching them develop!

Troy,

Looks like you got your hands full.:coolpics:

I never thought of using a kiddie pool as a welping box. Never to old to learn something new.

Okie, been using the kiddie pools since my first litter in '95. They are easy to clean, are the right size, and are well received by the bitches. You sometimes have a female that wants to use the corners between the pool and the square pen, but a couple of ice chests or buckets and they move back in the pool. You do have to pull a few pups out from behind the female the first few days, but after a short time they get out themselves.

Awesome!!! Hope you get a few days off of work to actually go too work!!!! You the man!!! Could not imagine handling 2 litters at once , unless that is all I did!!!! Even then, WOW!!!!! Great looking Pups!!!

The puppy pile is growing! Pearl's litter turned 2 weeks old yesterday. Sage's will do the same Wednesday. Wow, there are a lot of nice marked pups! Thanks Bleu! It is a bunch of work! Glad the wife carry's a big share. We are out with the females at 2, 6, and 10 around the clock. Miss those 8 hour nights!!!
