Elk Hunt success!

Big one! Congrats.

Congratulations! I've never been but just last night I was visualizing what an elk hunt might be like (just bought my first hunting rifle yesterday!).

I do know what they taste like. If you need any help consuming that big fella just let me know;)

A dandy bull, and here I was convinced they had all been eaten by wolves.:D Congrats on the successful hunt, looks like a good time was had.

Believe me, it is so much fun. I just wish I would have started sooner, before my body wore out.

I think he hit it with his truck:) Man that things huge. You could drive a semi between them antlers. Thanks for sharing the :coolpics::thumbsup:

Okay guys here is the condensed story! I hunted with an outfitter called Swift Creek Outfitters out of Jackson Hole Wyoming. These guys are Elk specialists. My guide is 30 years old and the elk I shot was number 74 that he had guided guys to in his life! At 30 years old if he started at 20 that is over 7 bull elk per year for that young man. We had to ride horse to find these guys. We rode 14 miles one way to get to where they all were due to the snow! That is 28 miles round trip on a horse in one day. Up and down mountains, through rivers in places I would not want to walk, I rode a horse! There horses are second to none and lumped my sorry butt up many, many hills. Both my buddy and I shot bull elk on the same day, it was an awesome experience to share with a good friend. My shot was 380 yards according to the guides rangefinder. He was bugling and herding his cows while chasing off satellite bulls. After I shot I looked to my left and had a gorgeous view of the Grand Tetons! It is a scene I will never forget. I will do everything in my power to go again someday. Food was awesome, accommodations were in wall tents that were dry and heated by wood stoves. The picture doesn't do justice to the memories and experience. We live in the greatest country in the world guys don't ever forget that!

Nice! Great adventure for sure Golden Boy.

Do it again SOON!

I did not get him scored yet. He forgot to grow thirds so his total score will be probably around 300" but he is a trophy in my book! Something I always wanted to do.

A 300" bull is a very respectable bull, and a trophy in anyone book. You have a right to be very proud.
