@Bleu & HeavyC--Nah (Ha-Ha), but I have thought once or twice about hunkering down super low in full-camo out in the middle of a certain corn circle...Back when the weather was really cold with snow on the ground - I observed a very clear & narrow flight pattern of a lot of birds trading back-and-forth from the heavy cover right into one certain area of the field near the base of the irrigation pivot...Thought at the time it might be kinda cool to set-up for a passing dove-shoot on pheasants & let my dog do some duck-blind style rooster-retrieving from the middle of a corn field!
Wouldn't be nearly as much fun though as the heart-stopping surprise of the flush...And this ol' fat boy wouldn't get his much needed exercise for the day!
There was a time way-back-when in younger years I may have been interested in the rifle thing ("Get em' any way you can")...
But these days if the ducks & geese don't answer the call & swing to the dekes, the tom doesn't gobble-gobble back to my seductive hen pleas, the buck doesn't respond to the mock-scrape/grunt/rattle or come within bow-&-arrow range, and the rooster doesn't want to play hide-n-seek with the dog - in short, if they don't wanna play the game the way I call it - then I don't want em' at all!!!
For some odd reason though, I would like to try out that cornfield-pass dove-shoot set up for roosters once - just to see if it works!
I have often thought about setting up my goose blind in fields I knew they were using and shooting them as they fly in or like a turkey if they're on the ground
