Dove Tomorrow! Grouse Sunday! Woohoo!

Limited in 2hrs yesterday morning. 2 friends came along and shot 10 apiece. We all shot LOTS of shells and shared some laughs at the last shooter's expense. We had pretty steady action through the first hour, then all hell broke loose. We had several waves of birds come over the field where all 50 or so guns unloaded. Took the family out to watch the evening shoot and there were still quite a few birds being shot. The dogs found lots of birds in the grass/weeds when everyone was done.

The mornings have been perfect weather-wise. Lots of dew on the grass, 66 degrees, big n' bright full moon, the smell of gun-powder and the whimpers of a GSP ready to start the fall bird-marathon:)

The boys and I went out this morning, though not as early. Today there were only 2 other guys there, but the birds had already learned better. A few were shot by a guy w/ a Mojo, but the boys and spent our time walking the dogs around picking up yesterday's "lost" birds. Tate found 7 in an hour this morning. I can only imagine how many we would've found had we searched the rest of the property. I was checked 3 times this w/e. One CO was glassing the place. I wonder if he gave out any wanton waste tickets?

I too have a tailgate pic I'll post when I get it downloaded.

I hope Dubai is treating you well my friend:cheers:

Awesome news bud. Glad to see you and the family were able to not only enjoy the outdoors visibly but it sounds like you will be enjoying it with your taste buds as well. It seems as if the dogs remember the game just fine, which is a good thing considering the state of KS bird season right now. I can only dream of things such as this right now.

Dubai isn't all bad and I would be lying if I said it were. We too have doves here, and quite a few but I can't seem to find any one who wants to sit by an oasis in the middle of the desert and shoot some with me. Not so sure it is legal either;)

I hope to hear and see of your success some more this season. Enjoy the outdoors for me too please.

The boys and I went out again yesterday afternoon. It was 95 and not wind.
We shot 22 more in 4 hours. Much slower shooting than the first day.

Finally got out this morning, buddy said the shooting was good last night, evidently they shot them all. Saw maybe 10 birds come into the corn field, and he knocked one down. Did have a perfect retrieve from the GSP though.

Sorry to hear that they weren't flying for you. One is better than none though. A perfect retrieve from the GSP huh, she must be a heck of a dog:)

Down here in Texas opening day is a real big deal. I hunted out in west Tx and shot 11 on Saturday. For a while I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn but finally started to get it back. My gun kept jamming so looks like I need to take it apart and clean it.

Satruday morning was a little disappointing, but we did see some birds. On the other hand, Sunday evening by the pond was much better, especially with a Mojo dove. The birds had wised up by Monday evening, though there were still some working the pond.

One of these days I need to stop hunting doves where they were 15 years ago and start hunting them where they are now. I'm not one to brave the crowds at McPherson wetlands, so that means I'll have to knock on doors.
