Dormant seeding CP25 and CP2

Did it years ago it was ok, not perfect. I am going to do it again this year weather permitting. Make sure it is late enough that nothing sprouts this fall. I think the perfect scenario would be a little frozen ground and the let it warm up a little and plant it then. But who gets the perfect scenario?

As long as the ground is not frozen and the seed is getting into the ground, I don't see a problem with it. I've done quite a bit of it.

I had a nieghbor do it and it turned out great. I'm going to try some this fall. I think I got a bad bag of seed last year. 3 acres didn't grow this spring.

I dormant / frost seeded a small piece last fall, overall things look good this year. The general feedback I hear is that dormant seeding is better for forbs than grasses in the first year or two as most forbs require stratification to break their seed coat.

Some say that grass seed maybe slightly affected negatively due the fact that most grass seeds do not have a hard coat to protect them through the winter, many people say to increase grass seeding rates to counteract this affect.

If you are going to dormant seed this year you should have killed off most of the competition already with a herbicide, depending where you are located you might still have some time left to do this.

Does a guy put down Plataue this fall?

You seeding cool seasons or warm moeller?

I did 2 CP-37's last year. One on Nov. 1 and one in spring.

The Nov. 1 planint gcame in with 5 more established species the first year than the spring seeded one. Both had same seed mix.

I just clipped mine once on Aug 1, both plots. And then I plan to do a light herbicide application like a chemical mowing this year when timing seems best (Mid June?). Probably some mix of plateau, milestone and 24D.
