Dog Food Bag

I have the second link, zippered top. I like the soft side as it takes up less space as its emptied. Plastic totes takes the same amount of room regardless of how full they are. I do make sure i clean and dry it completely after use so nothing gets moldy inside.

Yes, the first link (the Hoss Bag) is a roll top bag.

UplandHntr, is the Field Food Bag you have lined with something? The Hoss is lined with a silver material that appears to be waterproof. But the oils from the food have still leaked through to the outside over time. I like the idea of a zippered opening that is larger. And you are right, the soft bag takes up less space and is easier to pack than a plastic storage container.

Actually both bags are larger than I need for travel with just one dog.

I think we are talking about the same design only different material. These wouldn't leak through. You would have more size options. They make wide mouth duffel but they would be way to big.

For traveling with my dog I have used, for a number of years, the Mud River Hoss Food Bag. It has worked very well but is starting to show some wear so I'm considering a new one. I was wondering if anyone has any other/better ideas. If I don't get another Hoss Food Bag I think I might try the Field Food Bag with the zippered top.

I have something similar to these. Basically dry bags. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Sea-...=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=02526232&rid=20

I have an Avery DriStor bag for 3 years and it works great. No leaking or leaching from oils. I use mine monthly. Held up well so far.

I have two plastic jars (screw tops) for dog food (young and mature). Will hold about 5+ days worth in each jar.

The food two jars, two water jugs, biscuit container and a somewhat large container with a self made de-skunking kit. All fit into together into a single "milk crate" along with bowls (mostly plastic).

I have the mud river orange bag for holding collars, first aid kit and other dogs necessities.

If I grab both ... I can go anywhere (woods, water, fields) with my dogs for an afternoon or an extended trip.

And I thought I was organized...quite a bit of the dog stuff, bird cleaning, gun oil, et al I keep in a tool box that has a tray; least it's together. Rest of the water cans, bowls misc. are in a plastic tub, along with shells.

Seems like we're continually transferring dogs and hunters between fields, so I try and keep the clutter to a minimum.

I use a cat litter container. It's square an has a flip up lid. I keep feed bowls on top of the food so they are always handy. Cheap and works like a charm.

I use a large TupperWare type of rectangular plastic container. Holds six or seven pounds of dry and seals which blocks odor.

I use a kayak dry bag. $13 bucks
