I know you guys probably get tired of me talking about my Brittany, Elle. She is a super dog and I am very proud of her. But of course that is only coming from me. So when you receive a compliment from someone else it just confirms your feelings. Thus, I just have to share.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine from Aberdeen called and invited me along on a hunt. The farmer owns quite a bit of land and does do the "pay to hunt" thing but this was a "freebie". My buddy, Nick, has an all black GSP who's appropriately named "Shaq". Shaq is an excellent pheasant dog. We have been invited to hunt this guys land for 2 days but unfortunately I can only make the first day. We arrive at the farm to find 7 hunters waiting. Shaq and Elle are the only 2 dogs. We hunted that afternoon and the 9 of us limited out. However, I know those guys would have struggled without our dogs. In talking to my friend the other day he said while they were having lunch the next day the farmer came over to him and said, "Those two dogs yesterday were the two best dogs I've ever seen on this farm and I've been doing this for 23 years".

Sure does make one feel like a proud "papa". :)

I've hunted with zeb and his dogs---you will get no argument from me on the dogs quality  or zeb's :)

I don't get tired of it George.

Who said I was tired of it?? :) When are we ever going to get your Springers and my Brittany together for a hunt? Birds won't stand a chance! :D

Ahhh, you getting old or what?:D Your first sentence. I was thinking the same thing. Would be a fun day with Odie and Ellie. Or Riv. Odie is still on lock up with the bunk foot. River is at a slow walk from just getting off pups. I will be lucky to hunt either much this year. Headed out with a couple youngsters on their first season this weekend. Otherwise I am down to Loren and Grandma. This is why we need more then one LOL. In a week or so done with antibiotics, then if it comes back, surgery. If not, then he could hunt much of Dec. Riv maybe a little. But neither will be in good condition. That's the way the ball bounces.

George, You put all the pieces of the puzzle in place, lot of time and dedication. Plus starting with some of the best breeding there is.
I would love to see your pup sometime to.

I have to brag to. Remember the 2500 T&B you recommended? Works great.
I hunted this very nasty weed patch last Fall often. Woody would disappear on point many times.
Star a Chocolate is a fine hunter in Her own right. Didn't take long for Star to figure things out. The little "beep beep" she was on it.
Not exactly what would impress You George. But MAN! it was fun.:)

Always nice to receive an unsolicited complement about ones dog/s. Obviously it was well earned. Congrats

Wayne, glad that Dogtra collar is working for you. I love mine. Could never go without it again unless I had GPS to replace it.

If you get out to western MN I could meet you for a hunt. And one of these first years I've got to meet up with you in MT.

Interesting story about Star. My older Brittany, Mattie, doesn't back and it was kind of the same with her. She learned real quick when Elle went on point what that beep-beep meant and would go charging to her. I have to call her back because she has busted in on the point a few times and flushed the bird before I could get in range.

Yeah Star had a few that got up out of range.
Most of the time I'll hunt one dog at a time depending on conditions.
Sure was fun though running the pointer and flusher together when getting another bird wasn't important or necessary.
George You would love a big grassland hunt for the Sharptails. MT pheasants to, let me know.
It would be fun going after some MN roosters to, few inches of powder would make it even more fun.
I doubt there would be hunting pressure, I like the mid week, maybe should plan on it.

This is what I meant when I said I don't get tired of it George. Love hearing about dogs that do well in their adventures. PS remember guys if you like I can most likely save you some doe on an ecollar. I don't sell them so to speak, but the same distributer I can buy dog food from whole sale is the same for most all brands of collars. So I can order those too.;)

We all are very proud of our dogs but getting compliments like that, from someone who has never see your dog before and has obviously see many dogs, had to make you smile from ear to ear, congrats.

Thanks for all the positive comments. It is extra special when you receive any unexpected and unsolicited compliment. I received a similar compliment a year ago from Uncle Buck while hunting at Haymaker's. I guess if you want to make a bird dog owner's day compliment his dog. It means a lot more than if you compliment his gun, his shooting or anything else.
