Dog box size???

Due to being a cheap azz and having some scrap wood around the ranch I have decided to go back old school and build myself a 2-dog, dog box for my truck.

Wondering what size each side should be to accomodate a couple of 50lb Pointers? Clarification-one dog in each side.

The last one I built I was in high school and it was so big I think I could have fit a st bernard in each side!

you want just enough room for them o turn around in and lay down when they are in the box they should be resting and the smaller the hole the more they will stay warm when its cold out

I have one that fits between the wheel wells of a fullsize and is maybe 36" deep. I put 2 40-50lb springers in each side.

For your pointers I would make it 36" L x 24" W x 24" H. That would be the outside dimensions. Like others have said, keep it a max of 48" wide so it fits between the wheel wells. You can adjust those dimensions as needed, but something about that size should work well.

I got it built yesterday. Turned out once again bigger than I needed. Painting it today and adding the carrying handles and aluminum trim to it to dress it up some.

The pointers will be riding in style this season. That is until Bob, my youngest one eats the box. I swear that dog would eat a porcupine. If he can get his mouth around it he eats it!
