Anyone use dog boots in western Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado...anywhere else with sand burrs, goatheads, etc.?? What works, what stays on? I have heard some just use duct tape.

The Lewis boots are the only ones I've had any luck with. My Brits take size large on the front and medium on the rear. Wrap Johnson&Johnson sticky stretchy gauze tape around the dog's ankle, including the stoppers, first; then put the boot on making sure the top of the boot is against the tape, not the dog, for padding. The top of the back of the front boots may have to be trimmed down so that it is 1/2 inch below the stopper to prevent injury. Secure the boot to the dog's ankle with two wraps or so of duct tape.

The title should have said "Vented" not "Venter"

Lewis. You have to follow directions, or you'll have 3 boots when you get back to the truck.

I used the lewis boots and they were a huge pain to put on then last year we lost one so after some research i went with http://www.dogbooties.com/index.html and after using them this year Im sold. Real easy to put on,Cheap so I got extras and they stay on. No more lewis boots for me.

Cordura Boots Did Not Work for Me

I tried some boots like these and had no luck with keeping them on the dog. The Lewis boots are a bit of challenge to get on. The dog's front paws are often larger so the Lewis boots on the front should be one size larger than the rear.

Rubber Boots

I do recommend having boots because of all the stickers/ goatheads. I use Duke's Boots for my Setter and they seem to work well. They are relatively inexpensive so you could buy an extra set for backup if you do lose one.

PS whatever you do, use a cordura boot as rubber and neoprene weigh down the dog and make him work much harder.

Lewis rubber dog boots weigh hardly anything and my dogs have never shown any type of impairment, fatigue or lack of hard charging while wearing them. I have never been able to keep cordura boots on my dogs. Perhaps I should have duct taped them on.
