Diamond naturals and soft serve

Thanks for the info Springer. I am in agreement with you, when I first fed Native it was $29 per 50# bag, but really hard to get. Now it is about $50. But I didn't know that diamond was doing the same type of thing. I might give them a try and see if I get the same results for 1/3 less money! One more question for you. When I hunt for a week straight or at least 4 days in a row, I find it really hard to get the dogs to eat anything! Have you found anything that they will eat when really worn down? Last year my two girls had over 1,000 birds shot over them, they were in great shape, but still got worn down, like me when they hunted hard in ND for 5 days straight. Any suggestions will help. Maybe I will start a post on this question.

They always eat, but may rest first. I never feed for a couple hrs after any excersize. The amount of running I just feed more cups during rough pounding weeks. And I switch dogs keeping them fresher. The beauty of having 3-4 I guess. Back when I had one, she got it done but those 5 days in the dakotas had her cut up, sleeping sitting up, and wore down. Basicly like she had a fight with Mike Tyson. So that is common with any dog we run in to the dirt expecting them to carry the load on their own. They better be in great shape going in condition wise for those hunts. Or they just cant do it. I saw some of the not eating behavior back then too. I would go to the cafe and order 2 roast beef comericals or 2 orders of eggs OE hash browns bacon and toast. Then mix one for the dog with the food. They will gobble that up LOL.

I do have 2 dogs and they both hunt well. If it is just for one day, they eat really well after the hunt. I usually try to feed them right away in the truck in their kennels on the way home because I have read that they can lose muscle if we don't replenish it right away. Kinda like an athlete that drinks or takes in energy and protein after a workout to build back up. But I was wondering if someone had a majic formula for getting them to eat when they are rundown from multiple days of hunting in a row. I did start a post on this and have gotten some idea's but seems like everyone has or is trying the same stuff I have been doing.

That's odd everything I've seen says to wait at least an hour after heavy exercise before feeding a heavy meal.

You weren't referring to glycogen replenishment were you as that is done right after exercise???
