This is Mary, a 3 month old GSP/Weim mix that was dropped of at the shelter in Amarillo. As you can see, she is snug as a bug on my bed. She will be headed to her new forever home today (cross your fingers) where she will have a GSP big brother and a great family with a big yard. A few more days at my house and she may have become a keeper.

I have always paid the long dollar for top shelf dogs until current economic circumstances left me unable to do so when I needed to replace a dog who died of old age. That's when I found Dillon, a 15 month old ESS in the
Red Wing MN shelter. He was abandoned because the previous non-hunting owner let his kids pick the kind of dog they thought they wanted. Then they found they did not have the moxy nor the patience to deal with his energy level. He had not even been leash-trained. I'm not gonna tell you that it's been easy, but with love and patience (his and mine) we are starting to make a good team. His nose and natural quartering ability are excellent. I now have people (me included) who are amazed at how he works, flushing, retrieving, disregading fly-aways etc. I won't bore you with my hard luck story, suffice to say,I needed this dog and he needed me,and I could not be more proud for saving his life, and he may have saved mine. PLEASE CONSIDER A RESCUE DOG!! Even if he turns out to not be a hunter, you still need someone to keep the couch warm!

Wow, two awesome stories...Rancho, I detect your feelings and situation in that post and know your pain well. So glad a good buddy came along to help with easing you through those kind of times.

JMC, great job and a real sweet heart in that pic.
