Imo,they see orange. If you are wearing camo, you will get shots like ducks.It would be interesting to know how often a pheasant actually sees me coming. Certainly they do occasionally. My guess is pretty rarely though. That said, pheasants always seem to know which direction to run, & if they were truly running blind through thick cover (as sometimes assumed), how would they always go the right way? Obviously they key in on noise. But maybe they're much more visually aware of their surroundings, even in super thick cover, than I've given them credit for all these years.
It takes scouting, but pheasants will take the same flight path.

What I did, is I watched this slew several nights in a row.I noticed these pheasants funneling into alphalfa, over my duck blind.
Now I just need a duck blind and an alfalfa field. I'll keep my eye out for next season!
I only wear orange one day per year,if that.

Most times I drop my cousin off, and use him to block.I usually have an orange hat in my vest, but not always.
