I just returned from a great week with Bobby and company at the Birddog Bunkhouse. I picked up a last-minute cancellation, and my Golden, Gus, and I headed off to South Dakota. We hunted 4.5 days and had an awesome time.
We worked the full menu of public land available. It was my first time in that part of SD, so there was definitely some learning on the fly. But with a willingness to walk, explore new areas, and a solid dog, we found success. We came home with 13 birds—and that’s even after leaving early on the last day, right after I shot two roosters.
The accommodations at the Birddog Bunkhouse were perfect for me on my “lone wolf” tour. Great meals, a well-set-up bird-cleaning area, and plenty of time hanging out with the other hunters—it was everything I needed. Truly an excellent all-around trip. Bobby is a phenomenal resource for the area, and I hope to make it back again next season.
