Bill Hillman techniques

Guys,

I am keeping a pup from my latest litter. I am planning to send her away for a couple of months to training to a local trainer. His recommendation was to get the Bill Hillman videos on how to start training at 7 weeks. I got the video and have watched a few sessions I like what he is saying. Has anyone else done any of his training techniques and what success have you seen?

By the way I have to send a few pictures. My wife caught me napping while taking care of the puppies! http://s1150.photobucket.com/user/j...537_437840347870241416_o_zpsnhd55b8k.jpg.html

Nice looking pups--are they from Foreman??

The photo with the sturgeon ?? Is that on the Rainy --right out from the Sp:cheers:eek:rtsman-with a guide named Josh?

What trainer are you sending pup's too??

Joel,

We hunted last fall for a day...with your amazing Golden. Where did you send her to be trained, or did you do it yourself? She's the best!

Jon

Hillmens stuff is working great for a lot of people. I really like the puppy stuff, I'm not sold on the "fetch" command DVD yet. I think the hands on approach of traditional FF has so much value in later stages that I'm not ready to give it up.

Who are sending the pup off to?
PM me if you'd rather not say

David, yes it is Josh how do you know him? He has one of my pups! My last litter was out of Forman but I bred to Ike from Thistlerock kennels this time.

Jon and Gatzby I am trying a new trainer on this pup as well. I am sending her to Tim Springer from Dynamic Retrievers. He recommends Hillmaan's video to get a pup started before I send her to him. I will be getting some live birds early next week to determine for sure which pup I want from this litter. Nothing funner than starting with a new dog. Fresh start, new beginnings, etc.

That's very exciting. Tim Springer IMHO is the best young dog trainer around! He and Lauren are very nice people. And Tom and Lynn Lane's dog Ike is a crazy talented powerhouse of a golden. You are going to have all whole lot of fun!

This winter have Tom and Lynn bring you up to Central or TKO when we train on Sunday

I recognized the area first as being on the Rainey near Sportsman and Ballards--then Josh (Sturgeon keyed my memory--known him for many years

Have spent a great deal of time training and trialing with them Tim & Loren) --Two of the best and nicest people around-and knowledgeable--just talked to Tim this week--

They did and still do a lot of young dog work for Dave R. and train there

Saw Foreman with them before he came to Dave--

I reviewed some of the videos from Hillman- I like the conditioning concept and making the training fun.

My Max (5) still doesn't hold the sit position...need to work on this!

Dave I appreciate the good word on Tim and Loren. I have had a few people recommend them to me. I look forward to meeting them and seeing what type of potential they draw out of this new pup!

Jon I too am lacking on keeping up with the training. Hopefully with a new pup around and training with a buddy who is getting one of these pups I will be a bit more consistent.

Having a "play time" after the command sit is new to me. Looks like it could work on an old dog...like me and Max!
