Bad dog owners

So what do you do with a pup like this?:confused:

Time for doggie therapy, You think. :(

Might be a South Dakota thing but in 3 years hunting in WI I've not seen a single dog running wild in a hunting area (or for that matter ranging far from a owner out hunting). I average hunting 3x times a week during the season every week (rain, sleet or snow).
I don't know what to tell you on this one.

shorthairs....I'd love to know where you're hunting. I don't get out 3 days a week, but usually 1 to 2 for sure. Scuppernong, Tichigan, Bong, etc. didn't matter as I've encountered very far ranging dogs. That said, the majority of guys with short tailed dogs have good control over them and they hunt their own hunt.

In a way however, the big ranging dogs worked out for me. I figured out a couple of years ago that I can't (and don't want to) compete in the more open fields with pointers as they simply cover many times the amount of ground my flushers do. I changed how I hunt and now I focus on tight thick cover, draws, etc where a flushing dog is a big advantage.

It's a Ford vs. Chevy debate....everyone has their preference for their own reasons. I just get frustrated sometimes my dogs are hunting an area and another guy's dogs blow a bird out in front of my dogs when his owner is 300 yards out.

What are the things by the pheasant? You shooting hen pheasants:D

Hard for me to imagine.
Going out pheasant hunting and not knowing difference between a Sharptail and hen Pheasant.
Like going dove hunting and killing a limit of Meadowlarks.
World of difference between a hen pheasant and a Sharptail Grouse.
Say again, How could anyone, even with the least bit of Pheasant knowledge, confuse a Sharptail with a Hen pheasant , REALLY??

how can this be pheasant where cattle are grazing:eek: And wildlife areas empty where super hunters let their dogs run wild :( Guess hunters know best:thumbsup:
I hunt what's in the area and there ain't no sharptail. and I ain't paying for no hunts where they are at:D

That picture looks like mine! I am afraid to post it for fear the hard ass hunters would ridicule me. I like a dog which knows time out. Hen peasants?/sharptails? angus/black labs?, what I want to know, where did you get those green-head, flat billed, pheasants with the web feet?

You guys really think its ok for hunting dogs to run wild in hunting areas in the spring? Guess I'll send browndog out to the crp. You don't need to have nest to get more birds. Guess you would think that way if you hunt in south Dakota because you think they come from pens:)

I was invited on a hunt with my boss up to S.D. Fully paid even the license. Great hunting ground this lodge had. I was blocking a strip of Milo and up came a grouse. So close to me I could see it's feet. I raised to shoot and the guide yells hen, hen, hen. He was very good, but he must not of thought Grouse were in this field or have not been before. When he got to me, I said that was a grouse. He said are you sure. I said sure enough to lift my gun up and aim at it until I heard you scream. I am sure he has to deal with a lot of folks in his line of work that do not get out much and was just being on the safe side.

That's right owners that don't control their dogs are BAD. I bet I have seen 2 dozen hunting dogs running wild through wildlife areas and it's making me mad:mad: These dogs are doing nothing but destroying nest and killing birds:mad: Its not helping the hunting cause any. Many farmers have said why should we care about habitat when hunter don't care about what their dogs are doing:mad: The only bright side to this is I have not seen a lab running wild:thumbsup: I hope none of you guys are letting your dogs run wild.
Are you sure that they were dogs?

I just looked at the link you put up wesselpointer:thumbsup: and I'm wondering why are wolves protected in iowa? I know of one guy that raised them and when he got in trouble he released them:mad: Brothers been hearing some strange sounding coyotes the last couple years:eek:.

Yet its OK to let cattle completely destroy the cover for nests, fawns and everything else. And leave invasive species of grass seed in their manure from other areas when moved there. And pollute your water shed and sensitive waterfowl areas with dung? So much for the clean water act. Boy am I confused these days, I need to get some fresh air.

I don't think I said any of that.

Yes, go play outside you'll feel better.
