ATV advice

I need to get an AVT for my small farm. I have 160 acres, 70 pasture that I have to burn 1/3 of each year, and the rest crop or wooded area .

I have a 50hp tractor with a sprayer, loader, and forks, so the heavy stuff will be handled with it.

What I will be using the ATV for is:
-Sprayer while burning,
-Spraying weeds / brome under plum thickets.
-Access to the place when it is to wet for the tractor or truck.
-Planting bird to work the pups
-transporting things like chainsaw, and light work on habitat.
-Transporting Duck and Goose decoys.
-Some general riding around by the wife and kids.

I would looking at something in the 400 - 600 class.
I am looking at Yamaha, and Polaris here in town. There is also Honda and others within an hour of here.

What is your advice.

Honda Rincon or rubicon. Sweet machines. We had all 3 when I worked at a snowmobile trail maintenance place. 500 miles to groom, brush and tend to in some remote places. We worked the crap out of them things. I went and bought a Rubicon.

I've had Polaris, Yamaha, and Honda in 350-550. I liked them all over lighting fire on foot. I really like the power steering on my new Yamaha, but the weight limit on the racks is pretty low. My Polaris is pretty darn old and I beat the heck out of it lighting fire and spraying and it's been pretty dependable.

Thanks Troy,

Looks like the Polaris is a little less expensive here, by about $1000.
So I am leaning that way.

atv's

Sounds like you would really enjoy a utv over an Atv. Buy quality and longevity, buy a Honda. Look at the Honda 4 place Pioneer. The back seats fold down so you have a good sized bed/cargo area. Once your wife and kids get in one, you won't get it back.

Wench or Winch ..... guess there is a slight difference

But if it is a big enough Wench it could do the job of a winch.

I should actually proof read once in a while

The power steering is a significant benefit especially when I'm burning and have a drip torch in the other hand! I recommend to never have a sprayer on when burning. It is a significant safety liability with steering and potential for rollover and flipping backward (personal experience)! Use sprayers in the UTV or pickup where they are between the axles.

go with ranger

We have owned 4 Polaris rangers.similar set up at our farm.spraying hauling pulling.never once failed us.absolute beast.friends Kubota and a mule not close
good luck
