Are the crops cut yet

We were in SD hunting opening weekend around Pierre and the crops were mostly still in the fields, but they were starting to cut them. I was wondering how much of them have been cut so far.

From what I saw last weekend most were gone except the flowers.

I agree with "huntmaster Tom." I must, in order to stay in his favor...kidding here.

SD crop report: Corn 79% complete, Beans 97%, Sorghum 81% and Sflowers 52%.

Lots of flowers are still up and very few corn fields. Most of the corn is down via hwy #7 - Watertown to Mpls.

Just got home from S.D. Hunted around mid state to east of the river, but travelled all the way From Sioux City to Rapid City on I 90. There was still a lot of corn in the fields and lots and lots of sunflowers still in the fields. When there's one field the size of those fields in an area I got the feeling that that's where all the birds were and I couldn't go in there, but there wasn't much use in hunting where the birds weren't! The birds were down according to all the locals I spoke with. It was my first trip to SD but I have hunted NE and KS a good bit. I hunted some excellent cover with a pretty good dog, (read good enough for me!), and didn't find a lot of roosters. On The bright side I found a pretty good number of hens. Pray for a good hatch and good rearing weather for next year...for ALL the states that still have birds!
