If I go, today will be the last day of my season unfortunately. But, thats ok. I've been out quite a bit this year and am about ready for a rest and to get some much needed things done around the house.

After yesterdays poor shooting it may be time to hit the clays range more this summer as well!

good luck to you if your going out.....shoot straight... funny how sometimes they seem soo easy to hit and other times your left just shaking your head ...lol the ones you miss are always the ones you remember though. I am heading out on Tuesday...planning to hunt Tuesday all day...Wed all day and Thursday half day then half to get back for work on Friday. Tomorrow gonna be C O L D. I'm kind of ready for a break myself....I know my girlfriend is ready for me to be done hunting...:) but then its time to dog train and ride the HARLEY!

Yep I have a bunch of stuff to do around the house. Will do some fishing this summer and of course mess with the dogs.

Over the 4th of July weekend some buddies and I are riding our Harleys out to Cody Wyoming to see the Buffalo Bill museum. Make a 6 day trip out of it. Take back roads all the way out and back.

I'm hoping to get out twice this week, 2 mornings. I got some nice "action" pics of the dogs last time out, but nothing of them on point. We never did find the quail, so I didn't get a chance for any pointing pics.:(

We'll try a couple morning hunts this week and hope to get some nice photos and possibly a couple quail if we find the mother of all coveys.

Duckn..that sounds like a good time. Good luck to you Toad..post pics

weather

ain't got no pheasants to hunt nearby but the snow has hit here and i plan on being on the platte this afternoon with my new mo jo, a few goose floater's and my 28 ga. goose gun. wed. i head to kansas for my last try for a turkey with my bow. divot loves to see me get his vest out, means he getting to go someplace, he never really cares where, just go. by the way, he will sit still for hours in the duck blind hoping he gets to go for a swim, he also cold water retrieves with relish, not many shorthairs will do that and love it.

cheers

yea..pheasants are going to take ALOT of help from man AND mother nature to make a comeback. need more CRP and favorable weather. seems like a simple request. if only it were that easy. :(

Was scheduled to pull out this morning. Made it about a mile when the oil pressure dropped. Turned around to head home when no pressure shut off the engine. Toward it back to the drive unpacked and cracked a beer. After a six pack I popped the hood and found a wire on sending unit not attached. No engine problem now. Must have hit it when changing oil last evening. Took it as a sign from pheasant heaven to stay home. Back to work tomorrow.

Yea I had rough day as well. Left IL 530AM drove directly to a hunting spot was there 11:30am. Hunted 4 different places till sunset. Ace pointed only one covey and a single that flushed way wild. Only shot I had at covey was a screamer that went over my head...i missed. Also feel like I'm coming down with the flu. Beginning to think this wasn't such a great idea:(

It's RALLY CAP time!

Wife was gone last weekend, took the kids to her sisters. Went Saturday to some walk-in ground and killed two roosters, my buddy missed one other. Not many birds seen but did manage to put two in the bag. Went out again Sunday to some private ground and shot one rooster and 3 quail. My buddy got a couple quail as well. Had probably the coolest thing happen to me this year though. My pup locks up across this little creek in some pasture grass. I walk up there and he's solid as all heck. I change out my pheasant load and put in some quail shot. I wait until my buddy gets up there and then walk in. Two quail flush and I shot one and my buddy missed. Quickly reload while my dog comes back and points the same spot again along with his dog this time. 5 seconds later 6-8 quail get up and I drop one and so does he. Took both of us two shots to get it done so we're standing there empty barreled and a big old rooster gets up from the same spot the covey was. Neither one of us had any shells in, should have hit the thing with the butt of my gun he was so close. But, it was pretty cool!
