The roads that didn't have snow drifts were messy but manageable. With a little sun, and it seemed the wind was picking up on the drive home today, should help out.

Roads are not great, some you will have to stay off of.
But I think you will be OK in the area you have been hunting.

Muddy as all get out, but where I went I found birds

Wrong state but turtle Jr and I had a hell of a hunt Saturday near Maryville Missouri . Killed six roosters in half day hunt. Wife was the blocker driver. Could of had three times more if we were greedy. Landowner got three after we put our guns up. I had TJ run the dog and I just walked.. got permission for life on him now.

So many statements in your post have a tinge of illegality. One illustrates a unequivocal violation of Missouri law.

Let's see 3x2 is six right? My wife hunts and probably can out hunt and shoot you. Next ok landowner got three . He feeds and shelters the birds year round. It was his first and only hunt of the season. Write me a ticket. Better yet get off your soap box. Him killing one extra bird is no different than him killing a chicken in his yard. He is the one who takes care of them.

Turtle,

Your inability to understand even the most simple of laws is worse than your inability to count the apparent number of individuals in your party. Your inability to count the number of individuals in your party is not quite as bad as your misuse of metaphor.

THANKS guys....hope I don't need to be rescued...:D

This steady wind will get them dried out for you pretty well by tomorrow. Just watch out for those "Minimum Maintenance Roads" and you should be fine. The nice thing is that the mud and the muck keeps most of the other hunters at home rather than in the field.

just hope they don't keep me from getting back to civilization...well..I don't even really live in civilization...lol I almost got stuck couple times last time I was out there. oh well....it is what it is....I will make the best of it. thanks for the info...gotta finish packing and get some sleep.

pretty tough. I arrived out here about noon....tried to find some new areas. wasted ALOT of time driving around looking at bare ground. First spot I tried I heard birds calling as soon as I got out of vehicle...:) cut the dog loose and 20 yards down the road...big covey started running then all took flight across the road to posted ground...when I walked further down road they flushed again across a creek. :( despite hunting some good cover on the area we didn't locate any other birds...roads are B A D. I couldn't even get down alot of them....finished my day at area I started at last time I was out here in December and did very well. we didn't find anything this time. Sooooo I'm feeling a bit dejected. I had to park at a farm house and walk a good 1/4 mile to get to this area...road was completely undrivable...farmer told me I was crazy...I'd have to agree...lol Gonna see how I make out tomorrow....if things arent better I'm going home.

Its going to be tough. To get the roads dried out you are going to need a warm wind and a lot of it. That will not be good for scenting.

Good Luck, you will need it ;)

thanks Steve....I'm a VERY sore loser so I will be after it hard tomorrow. may have to hunt areas off the blacktop...

The East / West roads are the ones that will be the worst. So keep that in mind when you are trying to get some where on the unpaved roads.

you hit it on the head....those were BAD

unfortunatly those were the ones I really needed today....

very true....I do not want to get stuck out in the middle of nowhere...of course I have no cell signal most places too....
