Who all is going to brave the muck this weekend? I may goose hunt Sunday evening. Saturday evening I'll take my daughter deer hunting for the last day of the season.

I won't be able to make it out there till Monday or Tuesday...yes...I'm very worried about the muck

it was pretty greasy last time I was out there but its gonna be REALLY bad this time I'm guessing. you guys get any rain? poured here in IL all day....thunderstorms

Its been raining and misting off and on all day.
The mud is going to limit the places I will try to go.
4 wheel drive is nice, but you can still get stuck

yea...even when I had a BIG truck those roads were bad. I don't have the big truck anymore....everything gets all slimed up...:(

muck

we sure don't have that problem in the western part, no snow in sight either, last week they got about an inch is all

cheers

I've completely changed my mind. I'm not going out at all this weekend! My truck and dogs would be a disaster! More than it and them already are!

anyone been out? interested to hear how bad the roads-fields are....I'm heading out there Monday or Tuesday....

Terrible! Went doe hunting last night around Hillsboro, had my 5 year old boy with me and darn near got stuck multiple times as he was yelling how cool the mud was. Had that sick feeling in my stomach a time or two and some how crawled out of it. Truck is a mess!

I just got back from my last trip to NW Kansas for the season with a few friends. Hunted Friday and Saturday and was pleased to see good numbers of birds in a few areas. I didn't see a single Prairie Chicken or covey a quail however. Friday was a great late season day with lots and lots of pointed birds. A steady breeze with moist air helped the dogs pin bird after bird. Most were hens but between five guys and six dogs we ended up harvesting seven roosters, and missed at least that many. We saw 40-50 birds in four different walks and encountered at least a half dozen pheasants on every walk we took. Day two was warm windy and dry and tougher for the dogs to pin birds but they still managed to get several points and I even got to shoot a rooster over a point with an honor from my youngest GSP Molly. She's really starting to track well but needs to learn to pace herself and not push running birds so hard. Only four roosters the second day but could have had more with better shooting. It was encouraging to see fair numbers of roosters and quite a few hens late in the season. With favorable weather for the nesting season I think some areas have the potential of rebounding fairly quick back to normal numbers.

Glad to see a few birds in that area. Haven't been that far west since the opener, all reports from our area are still terrible.

Wrong state but turtle Jr and I had a hell of a hunt Saturday near Maryville Missouri . Killed six roosters in half day hunt. Wife was the blocker driver. Could of had three times more if we were greedy. Landowner got three after we put our guns up. I had TJ run the dog and I just walked.. got permission for life on him now.

Found a few birds this weekend, worth all the miles it takes to see a few. Birds were running like crazy and flushing wildly, Taz did a great job on these wild running birds.

GREAT PICS Jarbo...nice hunt!
 were the roads really bad where you were?

Snow melt from drifting had dirt roads in rough shape, few places I like to hunt we didn't tempt making it. Had way more snow than where I live.

I took my SIL out today to try to get his first rooster shot.
Got it done.

Got some Video of the dog work today, but didn't get the shot.
Have kind of a funny sequence where I can't get Indy to relocate.
