New Generation
I just got done spending 35 years working with the "new generation". They are an interesting bunch. In some ways, really savvy; way ahead of us "dinosaurs", especially in the tech world. They are connected with each other in a way that we don't really understand. It's easy to want to "diss" them. When it comes to guns, IMO, they still really appreciate the oldies that are handed down, and have a family connection. They really look for something that connects them. Most of them started the first four years of their life in a daycare center. That might have left any of us a little "dazed and confused". They may have less connectedness with the classics that have no real meaning to them, but are so dear to us. When you talk Vietnam, the moon landing, Watergate, and even Challenger, they have that same look that your dog has when you miss and yell "no bird". It's no different when we talk about the A5. We "old dogs" might want to say " they just don't appreciate quality". They have been exposed to incredible changes in technology, and just plain old better stuff than we grew up with. I'm not going to give up on them. They look at things differently, but they grew up in a much more confusing and fast-paced world. They also have had access to some pretty high-tech, well-made shotguns and rifles.

It's too bad Brownings new A-5's are not even close. Regarding the rage of "tupperware" guns, it doesn''t matter where you look, and it's not just AR's. The new breed of $500 and under rifles like the Ruger American look cheap, but shoot as good (and sometimes better) as those costing $100's more. Two older bird-hunting buddies just bought new auto shotguns, Stoeger M2000 and M3000. Although poor-man's $450 Benelli knockoffs, they shoot them well. If you observe any younger folks in the handgun counter at a gunshop, they will not even glance at the custom all-steel 1911's, but fawn all over the latest (foreign) polymer-frame high-cap 9mm....
