Whoa, the temp is 48* already here in NW Iowa (supposed to be over 60* by noon). I hope the Dakotas aren't this warm too. I have a friend going with me this morning, we will get going right at 8:00 and trust we can be home before 11:00 (maybe 10:00). I have been sick (not covid) since last Saturday, hurt my knee also last Saturday. The knee feels good today, but if I were a bit smarter I would give it a weekend off. Hope to give a recap in a couple hours. Watch those dogs today fellas, if you have temps in the 50s or better! Good luck on this "single layer" Saturday everyone.

It was 70 degrees in the Twin Cities yesterday.

It set a new record for the latest 70 degree recording in any year since they have been keeping track.

Not a big fan

We started right about at 8:00, full sun and a bit of breeze. Temp was just shy of 50*, a long sleeve shirt with a hunting vest and no gloves, which I do enjoy. We each got our first birds within seconds of each other. My second try was a runner and was lost. I got 2 more not too much later and my friend dropped his 3rd at 9:09 to wrap-up a quick outing. A buddy showed up just after we got to our trucks... just 30 minutes earlier and he would have had a hay-day in the corner where he typically waits, but he was in-time to take a pic for us. Didn't reaggravate my knee, which was a blessing.
I had a full schedule today after the hunting. Cleaned the birds, they weren't shot-up too bad at all. Blew the gutters-out on my rental, mowed and mulched the leaves there also. Had a friend stop me while mowing to see if I would take his grandson out hunting. The boy is 16 now, no hunter education yet, but needs a license. I told them to check-out the "apprentice license", and let me know if they get that gone. Got the lawn work done and switched-out my snow-thrower stashed in the front of the garage with the push mower. Moved my bandsaw from the garage, into the neighbor's barn to store there over the winter and get my little car back into it's stall. Got to HyVee and bought a large pork shoulder roast to make the my pheasant/pork breakfast sausage after this weekend. Then a birthday party for my 3 year old granddaughter to cap-off the day.
