I shot two and a third on the next walk that landed in the middle of a draw that had a bunch of water in the cattails. Ellie made a fantastic retrieve in water and cattails 7 ft high. The third bird was wet and so I am only sharing the first two birds. View attachment IMG_4670.jpeg

Those saturated colors really stand out against the drab background. Nice.

I am glad you guys are doing good. This is the first year me and my two buddies did not limit or get close to it. Hunting in the extreme southwest. Actually did most of the hunting just across the line in South Dakota. It was not good. Lots and lots of standing corn and flowers. Plus absolute blue bird days way too warm then the last day 40 mph winds. All private land on great properties. We saw. Very few birds and even fewer in gun range. He hunted great cover but nothing. I think they just stayed in the corn and flowers all day and hit the roosting cover right before dark. It was tough to say the least and very disappointing. That said we had a good time just hate we could not get our three great dogs in more birds. Very interested if things change after the corn is out and the weather gets cold.

Hey all, went out solo after Mass today. An absolutely beautiful day! Wish it could stay this way.

Anyway, good day. Limited in a hour and a half.

Addie did wonderful, man I lucked out with her!

Hey all, went out after work for a hour or so. Saw lots of birds today, but boy talk about spooky. Flushing a hundred yards +.

Did manage a couple and blew an easy shot!

Addie did great and it was a beautiful day! Will see what tomorrow brings!

Used my 12b Samuel Allport today

My wife and I invited a good friend along to hunt with us tonight. We had great success and were able to formailze the training for my daughter’s 4 month old puppy who watched and tagged along with our two dogs.View attachment 11763

A kind landowner allowed access , sloughs, grass, and leftover stripper harvested wheat. Lots of birds , my determined Epagneul Breton , perfectly pointed 3 roosters and gently retrieved .

Hey all, rather an odd day today. Weather was great!!! However, the birds weren't cooperating. Flushing wild and mostly hens (which is good!). The boy birds were getting up 100 + yards. Only got one shot. Ton of birds, but just this one. Oh well!

Used my 12b Henry Atkin today
