2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

I think this is the reason you want to run river and Jonesy against Sage and Nila. Their owner is way more laid back. If you tried to run a dog against Ace then you'd have to deal with his owner. That guy is too high strung;).
I like that jcw video when he took his daughter, and explained how he blasted a rooster.lol

I been on the struggle bus when it comes to shooting this year. Don't worry, I'll keep pulling the trigger and hope something falls from the sky eventually.
I haven't seen the video yet, but good perseverance attitude!

I've been on that bus for the last 2.5 seasons, due to a gun change. Although we're normally able to find enough birds to make up for the low shooting percentage, it is still frustrating. Some recent changes I made *might* get me off the bus more than on it (only tested at the trap range, not on birds yet). But since there will always be the occasional:

- safety flub
- inability to pivot/poor pivoting for a rooster flying to the side or behind
- awkward foot placement when one flushes wild
- wobbly mount,
- too low mount
- snag on clothing on the way to the mount
- trip getting to the dog
- brush in the way
- tall cattails in the way
- reed grass in the way
- tree trunk/branches in the way
- house/vehicle/cows behind the bird or too close

...the bus will always have some subset of us sharing a ride on any given day.

I did see the misses, but I also saw birds in the bag. Nice job!

Also, having grown up 15 miles from the Iowa border (the higher IQ side), with a healthy back and forth verbal war between the MN and IA side, the world's largest bullhead brought a smile to my face. Back in the '80s, this was uttered periodically:

"Have you heard about the latest food craze in Iowa?"

"Bullhead Helper"

Love it

I didn't want to get in an argument with any locals, but I'm pretty sure the world's largest bullhead lives in lake Elysian MN.
I grew up in Fairmont, MN. It is built on a chain of 5 lakes. Lots of bullheads in those lakes. The Iowa farmers would come up with white 5 gallon buckets and fill them to take back across the border. Not that there is anything wrong with that. :)

Lol

Love the black lab!
So my buddy is older than me, maybe 57-59? His old lab passed over the summer of cancer. He met a guy who raises and trains duck hunting dogs down south. This guy had a started 2 year old lab and my buddy bought him. It's turned out great for dog and owner so I'm really happy about that. Kylo seems like a good dog. I was there when he retrieved his first rooster earlier this year.

The dog looks very healthy and also to be enjoying the upland! The cover where you hunted looks awesome too! I shudder to think what a dog that’s gone through 2 years of pro training would cost! Hopefully they enjoy many years of hunting together!
