Day 1 in SD was a success, limited out in about 90 minutes with both dogs getting involved. Currently sitting by a Walk-In Area 90 minutes away from anywhere I’ve hunted before. Let’s see if we can get lucky 2 days in a row.

Here I spend a short afternoon then the following day out in MN. Took Tracy the Brittney dog with, 2 years old. The last 5 minutes could be titled "what do you do when the dog points in a patch of vines/thorns that you can't walk through." I also walked a spot simply because it looked so terrible, with so little cover, I just had to try it. Conditions were nice, cloudy, drizzle at times.

First hunt of the season was a misty wet morning. 2 roosters seen, 2 shots fired, 2 birds in the bag, and 2 tired puppies. Couldn't ask for much more!

Day 2 and 3 weren’t as kind to us.. still knocked out our limit but we definitely worked hard for it. Birds are WILD getting up 100 yards away sometimes, hard to pin them down. Two more days left and then we’re back the following week.

This was a good hunt, although it features the worst miss in the history of pheasant hunting.
