The numbers are in and yes it was the lowest harvest in over a decade and some of the worst areas were in the main pheasant belt--the normally GOOD areas--here are the numbers, harvest 1.4 million birds and the ten year average is 1.8 million--20yr average 1.56 million and the best in recent times 2007 with 2.1 million.

So yes the numbers were down--but 1400000 birds harvested and most people think it was a terrible year--we should be very thankful to be so blessed--really 1.4 million is BAD

I'm starting to see birds around the farm to--have several that seem to live right in the yard and walking anywhere will always result in flushed birds--don't know where they hid this winter--but THEY ARE BACK

Oh yea CHRIS IT's RAINING!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):)

Jim, good news on the rain. Looks like some welcome precip coming thru the area.

I just put some big bucks in fertilizer on some winter wheat ahead of this system.

Late spring though. Can you believe you are going to be under a winter storm watch in April?

Snow on Winter Wheat in April will add 20 BPA.
Chris, You won't be able to spend all Your Money.:)

It's now a winter storm warning--10 inches snow with rain before the snow and up to .2 inches of freezing rain with 40 mph winds----could get dark for a while--still we will take the moisture for sure.

We had a similar storm in 1984 or right around there. Sioux Falls was in the eye, and all we had was a little drizzle. All around it was much worse. North and west of Sioux Falls a lot of roofs went down and the winds were tornadic in the Yankton, Vermillion areas. The snow was plastered on all four sides of the houses and people could not open their doors. Snow blew up the soffits and thre days latter the ceilings started coming down with wet insulation. Insurance adjuster's dream.
