Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

I’m sure PF has engaged in egregious fraud, abused staff in various ways, engineered devious ways to benefit major donors, etc, all at the expense of average donors, our dogs, and most importantly, the pheasants. But I’ll still send my $75. 😁

    Winner/Gregory Area

24 and 32 gauges are all the rage in that area…28’s are way too pedestrian…2” 12’s are gaining in popularity out there as well…

" Im to old, my bird hunting and bird dog owning days are over "

I don’t hunt small covers for reasons attributable to pain issues, etc, but because they’re there…sometimes it’s a time issue…I’ve never considered it a hassle, or unproductive use of time driving, loading, unloading…most of my spots, public, private, etc are all within 10 miles…some of my small...

Do you take a poke at the long range birds ?

I got a few do-overs on the trip…3-4 more! At least 1 miss, but a couple good kills that came down and damn near hit me! It’s always a strange feeling holding my gun where I do on those…I hold above the bird, and they fall…not sure if I’m even swinging with the bird…usually I’m crouching down...

    Trip 12/8 - 12/12

Very huntable over the past week in the part of E/SE SD I’m in, but that means little at this point with the blizzard that’s coming, though the snow on the ground has a bit of a crust, so I hope it won’t blow around too much…more snow coming Saturday, maybe 5-6”….winter’s here. Hunting was...

    E/SE SD conditions

Wrapped up hunt today; 6 above at ten, still 6 above…slight wind, no ear protection needed as in hat, headband. Golf gloves were on. 2 of us hunting, about 2 hours 10 minutes, 4.7 miles. Not bad conditions, some snow, some drifts, nothing one had to think about walking around vs plowing...

    A sign of getting old.

I keep a bottle of yellow mustard near me at night…I get wicked cramps, but I suck down mustard like it’s mother’s milk..,I get cramps quite often, especially if I don’t take electrolyte pills…I know I don’t hydrate enough.,,mustard usually does the job within 60 seconds
