South Dakota Limit for a 77 year old hunter!

I am 76 and got my limit 3 days in a row two weeks ago. I figure it could be my last time so I had 25 orange T-shirts that recognize my 26 years hunting in South Dakota for my group and the family we have hunted with. The oldest to get a shirt is well over 80 and the youngest is 3.

We limited out each day and brought home 81 birds. I left a Beretta 303 and a Winchester 1200 with 2 grandsons. A grand daughter with 2 small children got something also. It was a great trip and fantastic weather.

    27th Annual Pheasant Hunt

Birdman2, I have no grand kids and my son isn't interested. I sort of adopted these kids many years ago. I have already given them 4 guns and when I am gone, they will get more.

Leaving tomorrow for my 27th, and maybe last pheasant hunt in SD. We stay in Winner and hunt near Colome. We have been with the same family the entire time and I feel as if I am part of the family. I have traveled many miles for their graduations and weddings and will continue to do so. I am...

What are you doing to get ready for the upcoming season?

I took my boots to the cobbler yesterday and asked him to resole them again. The bottoms are worn smooth by my walking on concrete when I walk the dog to the park. I also asked him to shine them up using his buffer wheel, much easier than me doing it. When that is done, he is going to add...

Sun Setting on My Hunting Career

I just got back from my 26th annual trip to SD and I was surprised at how well I did. I didn't shoot so well, but I was able to keep up. I did a lot of blocking this year, but that's ok.

A gift for your hunting buddies

My name is Max and one year, one of the guys had "Team Max" shirts with the date. I use to always take everyone a sweatshirt. We have a small university here and I would always go in the week after homecoming and buy lots of sweat shirts very cheap. Beer Nuts are made in the town I live in and I...

Looking at Over/Under 16 ga. opinions

See if it fits you. Years ago, I went into a shop to buy a Citori. I shouldered everyone they had and not a one came up right for me. I ended up with a Red Label. I now have a Citori Crossover for sporting clays and it fits me.

I Figured Out How To Get 12 Gauge Shells Into Nylon Belt

As the weather is usually mild when I hunt in SD, I wear a light PF vest. It has very few loops and the pockets are small and not very deep. I often loose shells when going over or under fences, bending over, etc. Last year, I had shells in the pocket of my heavy coat and I fell when going over...
