We probably saw a 100 birds out in this lighter cover. They have a couple small corn food plots and birds were all around them. We started out in heavy...

Old roosters are tough, or tough roosters are old?

I cooked up some Dirty rice and while it was simmering I had chunks of pheasants and diced orange and red peppers frying up in a 1/2 stick of butter. 1 quick grind of seasalt and garlic. When the rice was finished I blended the pheasant in and let it rest for 5 minutes. Awesome! Took the...

    Tripping or Falling

If you aren't occasionally falling down you are spending too much time blocking. There is reason why I have had 6 butt stocks on my old 870. A few years back I broke my ankle in Febuary. Due to heart issues it was 6 weeks before my ankle was operated on. That fall I fell 6 times in the first...

3 days of hunting for our guests.

I wish they wouldn't talk but I realize the guys are having a good time together. Some of the dog guys have guided at preserves and they aren't as quiet as I would like them to be. I do realize that guiding they need to entertain clients not just walk them around.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

My brothers were walking thru a overgrown tree belt surrounding a abandoned farm house. A deer jumped up and ran head long into a tree killing it self. A neighbor who was a policeman had a archery tag and was happy to tag the nice fat button buck. My dad insisted the officer check for a arrow...

    Let's talk cattail strategies

Even though i believe my dogs stand a very good chances of retrieving anything I knock down I do limit my shot choices in the sloughs. Small cattail patch or phragmites i try and have the dogs work it while I stay outside. If the dogs stop moving I know they are on point so I try and position...
