    Rising straight away shot

Your barrel is bent if you saw the bird on a going away rising shot and killed it. Or you got extremely lucky.

    Rising straight away shot

Thats me with woodcock. I hear the flush and I just see tan/white wing flashes through the timber if I am lucky. Every time i try to shoot one its a lost cause

    Rising straight away shot

Snipe are the same way, its the most fun hunting I have each year. You have about a second to shoot it before its gone, and they zigzag back and forth. Like you said it makes pheasant look like shooting a beach ball blowing slowly in the wind. I struggle to understand when people say pheasant...

    Bad luck

Very very low chance they both broke randomly at the exact same time. I would say your charger is broken.

    Remington 1100 magnum.. issues

You are looking for a rem 1100 barrel that only says 2 3/4" on it and has two gas ports. Full choke will be most readily available, then modified, then remchoke system.

    Disappointed

I really feel bass pro buying cabelas completely ruined it as the final nail in the coffin. They seem to have less and less hunting gear now and more crossover fishing gear from bass pro. BP said they were going to leave cabelas as hunting/outdoors but ive noticed a change too, especially with...

    What crop is this?

Both. Around here its either double planted with late season soybeans (winter wheat/rye harvested in june and then beans planted and harvested in late October), or its used as a cover crop and then sprayed off and corn/beans are no tilled in it in may.

Non-Toxic Bismuth (not Steel) for Quail

Salt creek ammo will do bismuth. 7s would be the ideal size, similar to shooting #8/#8.5 lead.

    Rising straight away shot

A straight away shot is pretty rare for me, almost always they are going to one side just a little. But just come up on the tail, then cover the whole bird with the barrel and squeeze it off while you are still rising above it. Knowing if your gun shoots 60/40 50/50 40/60 is important too. With...

    Choking for Wind

I always seem to do better on "windy" days (15mph). On those 20+ blow days you can forget about it, and on calm blue bird days (5-10) they always seem to be standing on field edges and run for a mile before flushing.

    Remington 1100 magnum.. issues

How does your mag tube look? Rusting/pitting on the mag tube causing the gas check to not seal properly is the main reason for poor cycling on these. Have had that issue myself. Not much you can do about it, if this is the case. You could try a new gas check/seal but the new style are pretty...

    Bird shooting lesson learned

Well I will just say I missed two shots at roosters last season, zero this year. The two i missed i focused on the head and tried to snipe it. Went 164 doves in 221 shots this year Dont know my waterfowl numbers, haven't been counting, and hard to with multiple people shooting. Im not the...

    Choking for Wind

Wind shifts all pellets equally, basically moves your whole pattern over. With that being said there is another variable being deformed shot, if your lead shot is deformed due to setback it will cause the pattern to be disrupted by wind. Lead usually cuts through wind just fine, steel gets...

    Bird shooting lesson learned

If you are looking at any part of a bird, you are about to hit it in the butt (or miss behind). You have to ID the bird, pull up on bird, then swing through the bird to the appropriate lead out front without staring with eyes locked on the bird. Those who lock onto the bird and ignore their...

    License check. Is this legal?

Ive seen you post on several forums bashing police. Its nothing new. You got "civil" responses from those who dont know the pattern, you got smartass real world answers from those of us who knew this was just a way for you to vent about your anti-police/anti-dnr crap

Wild bird hunting might be cheaper than I thought

Ive met guys that definitely save money hunting them. No dog or just house dog, old orange hat, 870 with whatever lead shot was in the closet, and out killing birds. Between guns, shells, gear, dog, dog gear, dog training... Im doing okay, down to roughly $1300/lb now. Wouldn't have it any...

    Truck caps

Just need the tailgate seal kit, its about $15 on Amazon. It cut down 90%+ of the dust in the two trucks I installed them on. That and plug the vent holes in the bed if they are open.

    Costs for Shipping

Check out salt creek ammo, they can custom load about anything. They are FFL manufacturers and specialize in TSS and Bismuth. I know Keith has done several batches of short old gun ammo for guys.
