Costs for Shipping

I recently have been looking for shells at Boss and RST. I was SHOCKED at just how much RST charges for shipping vs. Boss. Is it just me or is the difference significant? I looked at case pricing, as well as for a few boxes, etc. and was just stunned. RST needs to take a hard look at their carrier pricing, and get their carrier sales person back in the office to renegotiate a better deal.

I would agree their shipping cost are outrageous but I'm not sure they care. They produce high quality shells and have absolutely no trouble selling them, they kind of have a corner on the market for 2" and low pressure 2.5" ammunition. I wish there were other options but I haven't found any.☹️

Well since the price of Boss shells are twice as much, you are paying the same one way or the other. I guess RST should just raise the price of their shells and lower the shipping. Go up to the Post Office and ship a box of shells and see what it costs, its expensive to ship anything. Its the price of everyday items that I worry about, groceries, auto insurance, medical bills, etc. I am not going to worry about shells that I enjoy shooting.

One reason I've got less interest in owning an old gun. Having to chase shells around and worry about rst shutting down. I hope things get better on availability of those shells for vintage guns. I thought b and p is selling a load now?

I’m sure you were using this as only an example because it’s illegal to ship ammunition via USPS. Ammo can only be shipped via UPS or Fed Ex.
I bought some bismuth 16 gauge ammo from a guy on another board and he shipped it USPS. It is my understanding that both of us could have been in trouble, him from shipping and me knowingly receiving had it been detected.

You would likely have had no repercussions, the liability is on the shipper. You would have gotten a letter saying a package in transit was intercepted and to call the number for more information.

Check out salt creek ammo, they can custom load about anything. They are FFL manufacturers and specialize in TSS and Bismuth. I know Keith has done several batches of short old gun ammo for guys.

My point, shipping is high regardless of the shipper you use.
