Gofund me, for a member here

Oh crap! I'm sorry Limitless, I didn't know. We are all pulling for you. We'll help you if we can, but I know you are not the kind of guy to accept charity. Maybe it would help if you just kept it a secret and for god's sake don't post any more pictures of it. :)

    Iowa public opener

I don't know. All I can say is that I went up there once. Spent all day driving around and never found a place to hunt period. Wound up hunting some terrasses. Never saw a bird.

    Rain hunting

Careful with the dogs in the rain. Most will be fine if it's just cool weather. I screwed up and over did it once with a setter. Their coats are not made for wet cold weather. It was a sleet/rainy day. I lost track of him and when I found him, he had made himself a nest. He was cold and shivering.

    Game Preserve Hunt

I've seen it on some you tube videos. Looks like fun to me!

    Two dogs, two buddies strategy

As said, depends. My buddy and I would look at a big C.R.P. field and devise a plan, then undoubtably our plan would always go to hell as soon as the birds started running. So, we decided to forget even planning unless the cover was indicative to pinching them. We would try and keep each other...

    Grouse report

That's too bad. It's tough to go through. The worst is the dog doesn't understand why they can't go anymore. It's probably time to retire him. I usually take them along. Dump them out for a little pretend hunt. Then put them up and take the young dog out. Then when I get back, put the young dog...

    Damned Quill PIgs

I've had a few run ins with them. Most were pulled out with the multitool. Not fun for the dog or me. But the worst was a few years ago in Michigan. My possum killing little wire must have tried multiple times to take one. Over 100, from the back of her tung and throat to her eyes. Cost me...

    The dog caught a pheasant

Not necessarily, I've had the same thing happen, especially with a young dog who didn't hold. I've seen roosters tailfeathers inches from a point. I've also come in in front of a dog pointing and seen a rooster turn away from me, flush and get caught in the air. I bet the flushing dog guys have...

Come on, no hero opener day pics posted yet???

Don't ag him on! He might demand the tip of a finger for shooting a young rooster! and a full Pinkey for a hen! God knows what for driving a suburban.:)

    Woodcock/grouse

Exactly, I ran into two foresters while grouse hunting once a few years after they stopped clearcutting. I explained that if only I could walk the administration through the forest in the snow. If only they could see the difference between the amount of wildlife tracks in those clearcuts vs the...

    Woodcock/grouse

Not maybe extirpated. They are history. I haven't heard or seen a grouse in Indiana since 2000!

Fair Slx 602 vs Fausti bc200

I can't say for the Fausti but I have owned two Fair 16's a 500 and 400. The 500 would need cleaned about every 500 rounds or it wouldn't switch barrels after the shot. It has 28-inch tubes. My grandson owns it now. He loves it. The 400 has a strait stock, shaved receiver with 26 inch tubes. It...

Bird Dogs: Suggestions, Dealers, and Training Advice in Montana

A good Lewellen would be my pick for a close setter. Usually a calmer, easily trained dog. In my opinion, whatever breed you chose, you might be more pleased with a pup from someone you know that in breeding a good dog to a buddy's good dog because they need a pup rather than a big kennel with...

    2024 gear review...what worked and what didn't?

They may spook pheasants, but I never noticed any difference with quail. I still have some somewhere. I wouldn't use one now unless I had to, but my, my, weren't they awesome before tracking collars!! A long, long time ago, my brother and I had a litter of drops. I picked the smallest setter...

Bird Dogs: Suggestions, Dealers, and Training Advice in Montana

If you are new to this look for a close working dog. You will be happier with a dog that stays pretty close. You can't go wrong with a shorthair but there are lots of good choices out there. Setters and Brits come to mind also.

    Shooting style

Although I don't think the bead makes that much difference, I do prefer a bright colored sight. Not enough to replace the factory sight with one but I do prefer them. I'm not sure why but it might be that when I hit or miss the image of where the bead was sticks in my mind more. Or it may be...
