I went on a game preserve hunt this weekend to try my hand at 10 pheasant and 10 quail. They were of course planted. I was the only one hunting and had an enormously great time. I am 78 yrs old and can't walk 10-14 miles to hunt anymore, plus didn't have to drive but 45 miles. The most interesting thing I had not seen were 3 additional dogs helping the pointing dogs. The guide had 3 cocker spaniels that would make the finding of downed birds easy peasy. They would root and run in the tall grass like nothing had seen before. Does anyone use dogs for this purpose in open hunting or is this just a game preserve thing? Thanks. R
