There are pockets that have lots of birds, riparian areas and edge habitats. There is some wasteland habitat, section sized dry land farm flats too! This has been a snowy January, but December was open….. the birds generally overwinter well as there are a fair sprinkling of cattle ranchers...

Years ago I attended one of Gil Ash’s traveling shotgun schools. Two all day sessions, best money I have spent! I found out I’m left eye dominant, but his methods transformed me! Worth investigating! Good luck!

Friends and I shared 4 flats of the 12 gauge. No issues, have shot a couple rounds of clays. It seems a bit stiff imo, for British sxs for target work. I am saving the balance of my share for hunting. To be fair the other gents who purchased do not agree with me! Their 16 gauge ammo is due soon...

imo if quail is the focus I’d suggest other states. Worst I have seen; And have been in this general region since 2017. I’m in se Az. chasing desert quail. Mearns is really tough I hear!

So it is very tough for desert quail is SE Az. This year . Been out 8 days , too warm in The afternoon for me and the pups. Lost 3 , eaten 2! Good thing we have access to a grocery store!
