How’s your shooting been?

Been shooting above average, early on it was a lot of wing tipped birds and running criples. Thankfully that's lessened and I'm stoning more in the air. Dogs have been great and not lost a bird yet hunting solo. Did have a low flying straight-away I missed 3 times with autoloader on Saturday. Bird flushed at my feet. I don't really like that gun and plan to sell it. I also missed a layup this year, but thankfully my buddy got him. Main loads are 1 1/4 lead 5 and bismuth 4 at 1300 or 1350fps. I've got a random collection of other shells, #4 stormy prairie and whatnot that might come out late season. Going forward I plan on buying ammo in flats and narrowing the variety in my collection. Main gun a 725 feather 12ga. with i/c and mod. Most birds with angle I hit the extreme front end, don't miss many behind. 2 recent roosters had broken beaks and not one pellet in the breasts. I think it's from all the clays I shoot, which generally require more forward allowance.
Total bs

Goose, I swear to god, get your ass on a podcast, or your own show of some kind on YouTube or TikTok…you’d be a huge success! You’re what this country needs…I’m serious! I love the majority of your material…you’re kind of a Larry The Cable Guy, but with a MT bird hunter sensibility….please! Or, the Larry Bud Melman character from Letterman 40 years ago….brilliant!

Lol, every time I see one of these ass grabbers talking about expensive ammo, and they're 100% shooting, which is total b ullshit, and their dog trainer, and all this other bullshit,I just have to laugh.😄

Some of it is worth the $, IMO…there are lots of people out there that know a hell of a lot more than me, and I’ve benefited from their expertise…

Goose a lot of people offered advice to you when you posted about how many pheasants you were crippling. They offered you advice as to ammo and patterning your gun. You also asked about your dog and cripples so suggestion were made to help you. Maybe you shouldn't be so harsh on those who offer help. Lots of good people on this forum who will help others in a heart beat. There are several who I helped get a new puppy from River Farms, pointed a couple of people to Winans Retriever kennel for training and started dogs. I would do the same for you. The comment on 100% shooting was probably a joke. Nothing wrong with well trained dogs and good ammo. Anything to help put more birds in the bag and leaving less birds crippled in the field.

Better this year, I’ve moved from 20 back to 12 with a slightly more open choke.. biggest difference is I haven’t knowingly wounded a bird, it’s been dead or miss. I shoot old browning auto 5’s fixed chokes, hard to experiment.

I've gotten into this habit of floating my bead under the bird. I shoot a lot of trap and I have my trap gun patterning 90/10 and I'm subconsciously doing that in the field which is causing me to shoot under everything. It has been a frustrating year to say the least.
