Garmin arrow pointed there- said near- I shook the 220- thinking the cold maybe- looked arround- other 3 were not to far away moving- I followed the arrow and into the snow bank- deep snow but had to be sure- hot damn she's solid- was a hen that I had to kick out

have you been able to get out in the snow much- aside from your advantage of that straight up tail- he's got to be hard to spot in the snow-

I chuckle at times- mine try to walk on top of the deep stuff- sort of comical actually- Candy the old timer sunk thru and just stood- head showing- looking at me- come on girl you can get out

didn't have the camera ready or quick enough with it one time- all 4 were pointing- I walk within 30 yards and up pops a big coyote- whew he got out of there quick- I was more concerned with hitting the whistle and keeping the 4 of them from chasing

I am really liking this snow and the deep stuff where the grass is tall enough to hold it- hope it stays arround and we get more

it's when I have one on point- looking arround to see where the others are- sometimes not seeing oe or 2 others who are more or less covered up-

don't have any orange vests- kind of fun when the Garmin beeps and points- you walk up- not really seeing the point but seeing one that looks like on point- then looking where it's looking and see another in the snow locked up-

there is this one place that I'd wear snow shoes if I had em- brutal
don't know how the Britt's can keep going, it's a struggle for them and me- but that's where the pheasants like to hang out
 
for sure blends in- imagine 2 or 4 with that color and covering ground- one goes on point- ok- now where the heck are the other blended in dogs- quite fun actually- you never quite know what you'll come up on
 
Shadow, we have not had much snow up here yet.
But my two are not the easiest to see in the snow. :)
 
snow is still good here- still enjoying it- caught some pheasants out in the milo- came in from the left- didn't know the one was on point untill I got close- she doesn't run very big so I don't use a Garmin on her- quite interesting some times

This is last year when we had snow and the dog was young. He was not pointing just cold waiting for me to hurry up and put the camara down. I may get a puzzel made out of this.

Wow, great pic! That's the kind of field that you start peeling off layers as you go. By the time you hit the end of it, everything but your t-shirt is stuffed into the back of your vest and you're still sweating like a pig. We worked a 20 acre patch of that stuff this season, and wow... So thick you couldn't even fall down in many places... I know that because I kept tripping, but never fell down. :)
 
@ Shadow-

I'm totally sold on the Garmin Astro for the same reason. Not that I have necessarily lost mine in any snow drifts, but they can disappear in a second in heavy CRP. It has been especially nice for keeping track of the little pup.

BTW, nice pics. Always a treat to see photos of your Britts.
 
yesterday almost got stuck in my drivway- back wheels weren't getting any power- called the Ford Dealership-got the Service Manager- mentioned that this 08 with 56,800 miles looks like it should be covered under warranty- he said we'll take care of it, bring it in at 9:00am- 9:49 comes up to me- PTO is shot- you're lucky- it's covered under warranty- have it ordered will call you when it gets in- maybe tomorrow

whew- so I came home and went out for a little hunt- no roosters but a few good hen points- 4 of them were out there aways- Gamin beeps, beeps couple more times- I get there- ok- where is the other one

Here's one for you guys. Your looking for a Brit that is standing a covey of quail. Any guesses? BTW. The quail were holed up because of the snow and they weren't flushing. My brit would have stood there till the snow melt if she had too. I don't know how we ever hunted without Astros.

that is the thinnest cover ive seen how do you get a bird to hold in that cover are those birds ever hunted ? i dont get it theres no cover out there i could see if it was a dirtier milo field but the one your hunting is like nothing there?

One from today. Almost Jan and it was 37deg today no snow.
The dog is white with an orange vest on.
Shadow I don't know how you do it I knew it must be a hen for as long as it took me to get the camara out and get the picture . I was all jacked up took the pic moved in and flushed the hen pretty cool.
