That's just as well. You'd have to outcross her to get a really good bird dog anyway. Elhews are a lot more hype and marketing then they are bird dogs. I'll probably offend a few people with that but facts are facts. Gotta admit though, there isn't any line prettier than an Elhew but I'd rather have a pink dog that could point a bird from 50 yards than pretty Elhew that trips over them.

I havent had a winnig pointer since mine died 2 years ago his name was souther Reps Jump I bought him from the previouse owner becouse he just couldn't get him to go any harder and win I gave him a year off and ran him on wild birds and brought back some of the fun for him and after that he won every trial I entered him in he finnaly died of old age and arthritus poor guy I miss that one

Gotta bolt and throw some brats on the grill. Somebody e-mail me and let me know what dates you need. Whoever organizes it, don't try to accomodate everyone, it's impossible. Just set a date and let those that can make it, make it. Otherwise you'll end up pulling your hair out. shadymeadowskennel@ckt.net is my e-mail.

We have a trial at our grounds in a week if you want to come play. This ones a NSTRA trial. Lot's of good prizes and every entrant gets a $25 gift certificate from Boyt Harness Company (they make my favorite dog handlers vest).

sounds good but unfortunately it is the wrong time of year i need to wait until at least january before i can consider running onethanks for the offer though and besides my male britt isan't ready yet he is only starting out he isn't even six months uintil november and my females don't have the desire and fire for trials anymore

No worries. We are going to be running the Shady Meadows Gundogs Multi Species series there this winter and it will have a puppy class with tons of sponsors for good prizes if you want to run your male in it.

what is the entry fee for that i'm interested just depends on when it is and if it coincides with my schedule

I picked this up and started going with it. I would like to have some help to get it going. I've wrote down everything that was agreed on and would like to get everything done to have one.

I see you are from IN. I do not know Phil Henchman . He played alot of tournament and was very good at it. He is a breeder / trainer of Boykins.

There are some web sites you can go to too get different ideas on scoring and rules

Phil, It was good talking to you today. When you called I was out running the dogs. After I got back I read the whole thread and think I am up to speed now.

I would be willing to help out where I can. I do not have the time to spearhead it though. Also, for me the earlier in the spring the better. This year I think the weather would be great for a late Feb. early March date. Today the thermometer in the truck said 47 degrees, not bad for Feb.
