SW ND: Lots Of Corn & Seeds Still Up

Still lots of corn & sun seeds up in SW ND. Time & again this week we've watched flushed birds line out for the closest corn or sun seed field. Most all of the canola, wheat, and barley have been harvested. It's taken a lot of walking PLOTS/grass/cattails around my place, and some great gundog work by the Wrecking Crew, to find some roosters. I'm looking forward to late rooster season hunting, after I get done hunting firearms deer season...

Glad I'm not the only one struggling. My dogs have enjoyed running them out of the sunflower fields, but that hasn't equaled shot opportunities.

Is it just me or do they run more on these wet misty days?

Quite a bit of standing corn in Eastern Mt too. Overall bird numbers were down a lot in my experience. Especially sharps and Huns. But Huns last year in Mt were unbelievable.

Hey all, corn and flowers are still up around us (south of Bis/Man) with a few exceptions. Been raining almost every week. Rains, starts to dry out then rain again. A vicious cycle.

Time will tell on this one.

Stay well my friends

Greg

Was very surprised to see that most of plots land between Scranton & Hettinger were short on good hunting cover. Just wondering if the CRP contracts expired.
