How is the harvest going in SD? Mainly E/NE parts of the state? I live in NWMO and they are getting after corn this week. Been really dry.

Livestock/dairy producers are just getting wrapped up with silage harvest.
Soybeans vary wildly. When I left Sioux Falls friday afternoon to head to Faulkton for the weekend there were a few soybean fields opened up around SF, but once you get 30 miles north/west everything is very green yet, corn included. Nearly all of northeastern SD has been pretty wet since June.

There will be plenty of crops for the birds to hide in on the opener. Most of the state is getting wet right now. Farmers aren’t going to be in a hurry to get the corn out and have to dry it with the prices the way the are.

They will start on beans over the coming week in my area (SE SD). They believe corn will be out by 2nd weekend of season.

I'm in Watertown. Beans are starting to turn but I haven't seen any being combined. Corn is a long way from being ready. Been really wet around here this year. Rained a little the past two days and have been raining pretty steady all day today.

Its early yet, Only a few fields have combined for high moisture corn. Silage cutting will be finished soon. Less acres are being cut this year. The beneficial rains have increased the tons of forage per acre so less fields are cut to fill the same bunkers/silos , Rain makes everyone a good manager.
Much of se SD had favorable early planting and ideal growth conditions and is now mature and drying down surprisingly fast. There is a lot of crop out
there and I'm sure harvest will extend well into the season . My favorite place to hunt early is good cover near a field being combined. Everyone is seeing/hearing birds. If the monsoons don't postpone things (5-8' of rain west of Pierre last week ! ) and we avoid some west nile /bird flu plague everyone should have all the limits you could hope for. IF the hunters and dogs can handle the cover. This will be some of the most robust habitat South Dakota has had in decades

SE Mn, neighbors took their corn out last 2 days here. moisture was at 15% and we had a wet year here. should be full on gang busters here for next 2 weeks.

Other fun report. was in North Central ND this past weekend for duck opener. holy moly, pheasants galore.

It’s a bummer the government shut down prevents the release of the crop harvest report but what do you do. Nice to hear the updates from you guys. Looks like it should be good weather this week to get after the harvest.

I'm in East Central South Dakota. A lot of beans have been combined and the corn has really turned in the past couple weeks. Corn seems to vary a lot from field to field but I would guess there will be a lot of corn harvested in the next couple of weeks.

Got a pic this morning of heavy frost so for anything not turning yet it will here soon. Talked to a farmer 2 days ago. 3-4 more days of beans and then will roll in to corn he figured. Agree that the next 2 weeks will see more corn shelled across a larger swath of the state. Can’t wait to get there.
