Tail Feathers and Pelts

The Man Cave thread got me thinking.....What do you all do with your tail feathers/pelts?

The last couple of years I've made a habit of bringing all the tails home, plucking them and handing over to the wife. She's been using them in flower arrangements in vases, and wall hangings. Will post a picture when I get a chance.

Whats funny is the non-hunters we are acquainted see them and are always amazed, ask if we have any extras that they can decorate with. Hard telling how many I've given away the last few years.

I keep at least one for every bird the dog gets. My wife does the same thing. I have given some away too. Once they used them at a friends funeral that was a big hunter. You can do many neat things with them.

give most of mine away to friends and have some family that use them for pow-wows and others i have given to fly fishing buddies

I take them to the office and when people come in with children, I give the kid a feather. It usually keeps them occupied with dad or mom and I talk. I give some to the mother-in-law too. She raises Siamese kittens and sends home a tail feather with each kitten she sells for a toy.

I put 6-8 pheasant tails inside a spent shotgun shell and post them around the house as decorations. I got this idea when I saw the same in a tavern in Badger, SD.

My sister in-law asked for some feathers during her last visit from out of state. She didn't say what she was going to do with them, but we recently got this back from her.
