Need Help finding a Golden Retriever!!!

Hey Guys, so my wife just told me that I need to get another dog so my one year old pup will have a friend. She specifically said she wants a Golden Retriever. I need help finding a pup before my wife changes her mind. Does anyone know of any breeders in Colorado that has field bred Goldens?

There is a guy in Colorado that has some really sweet Bitts. Why settle for a Golden when you can have a really cool, thousand mile an hour with his hair on fire, Britt. Can't remember his name, but Dakota Zeb knows him.

To get a good field bred golden you might have to look out of the state. Check out my web site I am planning a litter right now. Just waiting for her to come into a heat cycle.

Joel: I thought of you when this post first appeared - glad you responded.

I googled the WI. breeder where I bought my Max. Puppies are $1700! Ouch!

Good luck with your next litter.

I would love to have a Britt but my wife is set on a Golden. She didn't realize that a golden is a gun dog. We have found plenty of Golden's for $1000.00 but they have no field trials or hunting in their pedigree. When I find Field bred then the price jumps to 1600.00 up to 3000.00. My wife will not let me pay that much for a family dog. I am going to go look at four 5 week old pups next Saturday and I will be taking a pheasant wing along to see if they show any interest at all. The owners said that the parents are ball crazy and love the water hopefully they have the instinct. To my wife this is going to be her dog and if it can hunt then that is alright but she wants a calm family dog.

Eddie, if you want a calm house pet, don't buy a field bred golden! Field bred goldens like mine are great family pets, but they are wired a little tighter and a little more high energy than the typical white, fat, fluffy, Golden.

Joel, I thought the same thing...they are wired a bit tighter, at least mine is. He's 6.5 and seems like a puppy some of the time. Field bred dogs are going to be more expensive, also.

I see ur situation its kind of a bummer all the family dog & not many hunting the goldens wrecked the hunting/field bred lines over the years now u gotta look hard for hunters...

1000$-1300 for a golden is insane

One breeder in the Chicago area gets $2000 for her Golden puppies. She has been breeding dogs since 1965 and has had several Natl' Champions.

The blood lines have not "been wrecked." There are two distinct Golden breeds: Field-bred and show. At the recent Westminster Show, a Golden was ranked third; this was a show-Golden, longer hair, larger in size, lighter in color and not as intense as the field-bred.

Demand: this is what drives prices...

Don't you have any rat hole money! For a $1,000 dog throw $400 of rat hole cash on it then tell your wife the dog was on $600 and you put the $600 on the card.

SMO in your opinion what is a reasonable price for a good hunting dog? Take out the breed of choice and just put a dollar figure on it. Did you know that if you go to a shelter to "rescue" a dog it will cost you a minimum of $400. That is for a mutt. Who knows the health issues they have or the trauma they have been through that might come out later on. Have you raised a litter of puppies and given a 28 month health guarantee? That is to say, give people their money back if the dog's health is not what was promised at the point of sale. By the time I pay stud fees, vet fees, 7 -8 weeks of my time caring for those dogs I don't think the prices for puppies are out of line. But that is my opinion. I am interested in what the typical price is for a small munsterlander puppy?

Pretty sure u know SM go for 900-1000 males 1000-1200 for female off top no special field or show lines...

For a pointing tracking trailing retrieving land or water dog + top family dogs that's fair...

For a dog that is just flushing & retrieveing + great family dogs I can't see paying same as a versatile pointer retriever all with all above mentioned attributes just more moving parts on a pointer...

All that said a field breed golden with intact field blood line I'm sure commands $$$ due to there being so few vs show lines...
