dodge city ks trip

I traveled to dodge city over the weekened to look at a pointer dog that i was really familiar with his genetics. I must say i am really glad to live where i live, that has to be one of the dirtiest, poor cities i have ever been to if you were to stay in a 60 dollar motel it was rough ,and the 100 dollar one i stayed in was ok i said to myself i am really lucky to live where i am and to as blessed as ive been wow!! Now to another side of the story i did like the country for pheasant hunting i really think well i know that i could kill birds in that area i liked the cover and across the road from the guys house that had the dog i was looking had walk in and he said there were birds there lol and it looked good people say the cover looks thin i didnt think it did at all in alot of that part of the state i would like to hunt there but for me to hunt there and be comfortable it would cost me a 100 a night in that area!! Just what do people do in that area to make money evidentally they dont make much? Houses were just really run down.

In Dodge, like Garden, many people work in the meat-packing industry. Those that don't typically do service work or something related to agriculture.

It's nice to hear someone say there is cover out that way. That's not the impression I've been getting all summer.

You should have called and I would have hosted you in my double wide for less than a hundred a night.:)

Unfortunately, Dodge City is a really dirty town and certainly not the place I grew up in. I spend as little time in town as possible.

Now not all houses are trashy in Dodge---

I figured some run down trailers and a couple shanty towns would make a 'bama fan feel right at home:D

Just where did you get the money to upgrade to a "Double Wide"?

I do give tours of Dodge, throw in a little history, and if a person wants to talk "trash", I can talk about trash that might surprise you.;)

Only A Pointer gives you a pretty accurate view of the current Dodge City. Sad, but true:(

Yes, Cargill and National are big employers in Dodge.

There are entrepreneurs also-

Dodge City definitely could use some help. I like the Montana Mikes but it's the only place I've hunted where I'm genuinely scared my truck is goin to get broke into at any minute.

hell, that is where he keeps his dogs, you should see his house, and it doesn't have a B on the chimmney cause he don't want anyone to find his place. :)

I thought sections of Dodge City were nice and the restaurant at the golf course offered reasonable vittles....so, I rate DC at a solid medium plus, especially when the wind kept National Beef at bay.

Maynard, is that the guy that won the lottery and donated all the money for the KState football stadium?

No. The lotto winner has a very nice house, but not that big. Both homes are on Maynard's Dodge City Home Tour and I have a few stories about both. If you want other stories, lay an Andrew Jackson in my hand, I will sing like a bird.:)

you know, if you are aiming to talk bad about dodge city you are gonna pi$$ ole sheriff Matt Dillion the heck off and I wouldn't want him mad at me. :)
