Lesser Prairie Chicken Video

Nice video. Thanks for posting. I love watching chickens doing their dance. Have to say, I'm getting tired of hearing about game birds declining though. A theme all to common today.:( God willing some how we'll get things turned around for all game birds.;)

Thank you sir I appreciate that. My dad talked about prairie chickens booming but I have never seen that.
 
I have not seen any dancing yet. Last evening approaching sunset, I did flush one in the edge of a field of winter wheat and saw a few, through the binoculars, flying on a neighboring ranch. It was calm and I listened carefully at each stop. On a calm evening, like last evening, I have heard them up to three miles. The conditions were right last night, evidenced by the fact I heard a turkey gobble from a mile and a half. I will keep watching and listening for what I hope is a good show with a decent number of birds.
 
I have not discovered any hatches on the ranch yet, but keep watching. The ranch is in such a terrible drought and the critters(including this human) are suffering. A week of 105-110 degree temps ahead of us with no rain in sight.

I did read of drought conditions over there...for three years running down we have had the opposite...very wet at nesting time...my thoughts are with you all...droughts are very cruel...
