Well...tomorrow is my last day of work till next Friday. Me and my 2 wirehairs are heading to north central Kansas to try to find some quail. Don't have much of a plan just a list of some public ground and some biologists phone numbers. Haven't hunted Kansas in several years...will be an adventure

Its been a tough season, but you should get into some birds.
Good luck, I got the flu so I am missing out on hunting the last weekend of the season.

Thanks guys. Yea I had the flu for almost 2 weeks. It ain't no fun. I will hopefully have pics to share when I get back

Good luck to you . . . our season has ended, so I'll hunt vicariously thru your pics & story.

a few birds

just got back from a trip to n. w. kansas, hunted two full days, again with two dogs, saw about 80 birds, the majority were roosters, many of them had their running shoes on but some did hold for a point, limited out both days, kinda hot out there, shirts only, saw one other hunter and they were out checking out the roads i think

cheers

well.....I had a really good trip.....didn't hunt overly hard and found birds every day none the less thanks to the tireless work of my young wirehair.....shot some beautiful late season quail over memorable points during last days of season. What more could anyone ask for?! My trip was cut short due to the snow storm and 40mph winds......I will leave them for next year when I hope to return for beginning of the season fall of 2013....cheers to the 2012-2013 season!

That snow was kind of a surprise, haven't had much this season.
Glad you were able to get you dog into some birds. Nothing better than quail for hunting with a pointing dog.

I am heading to one of my farms down in Southeast kansas to chase bobwhites with my shorthairs tomorrow morning. Woodson, Allen, and Wilson counties have been good to me this year and I am pumped for this last hunt of the season. Should be good and cold with some great scenting conditions. Just me and the ol man walking hedgerows, one on each side and dogs in the middle!

Sounds like a good time. How many farms do you own down there?

I'd love to buy land down around Fall River, not for the hunting but mostly because its nice country down there.
