Why am I a hunter? Not sure I can answer that...or is it as simple as it IS WHO I AM! There's no doubt that if I didn't hunt I wouldn't be the person I am today, and quite frankly I couldn't imagine not hunting. It certainly isn't just the kill, for I feel remorse after every life I have taken. Yet when I tried to substitute the gun with a camera it just wasn't the same.
Maybe it's being part of the big picture, awakening the old instincts, connecting to what we once were. I am not sure, but I know it restores my soul like nothing else can. For sure it is who I am, what I love, what I live for! When I hunt everything seems right with the world!

Well said FLDBRED! For me it's something we just did, my grand dad hunted and so did my dad, it's in the blood I guess. Nothing I would rather do, it's an escape from this crazy world and they better not ever try and take it away!
Gets you closer to your real self, a person who once had to hunt down something to eat for himself and others just to stay alive. Your primal survival instincts and skills are in play when you're afield. Nature is beautiful but also has its own vigor which tests the hunter. I find peace of mind on the high plains with its open views and vast horizons. I feel competent after I've walked some miles and maybe put some game in the bag and then on the table.
