ive seen people camp in their rv all year round... the ones that do live in the extreme cold, they usually have their under the camper/rv closed off from wind and have multiples of heat tape/wraps plugged in to keep the lines from freezing.

id stock up on propane tanks if youre going to do that.

a friend from high school.. his dad is divorced, all he wanted was the RV, he goes down to TX during the winter and comes back to Sioux Falls, SD every year.

I've done it but had to give up in cold weather. I could keep everything working, except my water tank which would freeze very quickly..........Bob

I know some folks who just dry camp in theirs occasionally during winter. It's warm hard shelter.

that is what my brother does with his 5th wheel. Good warm comfortable shelter and he just takes 5 gallon containers of water with him, doesn't have to unwinterize it. He just got back from deer hunting and that is what he did.

its pretty easy to run RV antifreeze through the water system once youre done for the season if youre not using it all winter. however 80% of the people who own Campers or RVs do store them indoors or in storage places. my brother in law has a RV and he drains the water but doesnt run RV antifreeze but his shop is heated and kept at maintained at 50 degrees

I've camped in a tent with temps well below zero. It is very taxing on your body after a few days! But I am an idiot!!!

I have a pop up camper on the back of my pickup and stay in it through the bird season. I hunt from my camper until the end of the Kansas season in January.
I don't use my water system for fear of freezing it, but other than that, I am fine, especially if I can find a sheltered spot to camp that's out of the wind.
I have one farmer friend who lets me camp in his shelterbelt, and another who lets me pull into his quonset hut if its real cold and windy. It helps to find an electrical hookup if possible to save your camper battery in extreme cold and I've got several spots mostly in parks that have hookups. I just turn the heat down low and cozy up to the dog at night to save on propane.
I've hunted this way for years and it suits me fine, I much prefer this to a motel.

Been there done that with the RV. First 2 weeks are OK, but water pipes can freeze overnight by Nov 1st, depending where you are at. I'm talking about SD and Minnesota. Pretty hard to replace World Series on TV, hot shower, nice steak at local diner, etc. It is fun when the weather is great and can be miserable if the weather turns on you. PS- Love the Lake Conroe area. Got a son in Houston and we spend time there.

If you have a RV with the winter package you can get by just fine with running water. My brother is still staying in his fifth wheel working on a pipeline in ND right now. It was -13F thanksgiving morning when I talked to him. The winter pakage basically keeps all the pipes and holding tanks enclosed and heated. He is burning a lot of Propane though!:D
