where’s Bob

I don’t know all the Goose lore but he talked about his cousin shooting hens, defecating while hunting, and other hunters pointing guns at you while hunting. That’s not exactly the activity that helps our cause with trying to get more people to join the sport/site in my point of view. I just don’t think that’s the type of message we want to show, that this site is about that.
I guess none of that happens while hunting. But it's your rules and it sounds like you want the site to be more "gucci".

I have had Goose on ignore status for about as long as I have been on this site. I don't come here for the BS he was spewing and not of fan of the general direction this site seems to have been heading in the last few months. I might be a bit more serious about pheasants and pheasant hunting than most, but that is what this forum typically was and was treated that way by most here. This is a site dedicated to pretty much all things related to "pheasant hunting". Is the not somewhere else to post crap, I am sure face book has a place for folks to satirize or post nonsense, I personally don't need or want to see it here. If a few more left here, I will not shed any tears. Just my thoughts. Maybe tolerance lessens with age.

Productive post above A5.

I'm fine with him gone. Half the "crap" he posts is so far removed from the realm of upland hunting it's ridiculous. I'm sure he was warned more than once and still didn't change.

That being said, I mostly just ignored it.

For more background (and so I don’t have to worry about my house getting raided tonight), here is a message I sent webguy about Goose initially:
“Question on forum moderation: are there moderators for this forum? I've enjoyed this site but recently it's become filled with nonsense posts (see Goosemasters latest post) more so than actual talk of pheasant hunting. Other forums have moderators to clean up members stepping over a line, but I have yet to see that with this forum, so I'm curious how/if that works here.”

He replied and said that he banned Goose due to my and other complaints. I checked and it is a 2 week ban that ends 1/31. He left a note to dial it down a bit for Goose as members are complaining about him.

So, Goose is coming back at the end of the month. Going forward, I will send a warning via a message to the user about what the complaint is. Then, if the user still continues their ways, there will be a 2 week ban. Honestly guys, I don’t think I will have to warn 99.9% of you, I don’t want to be seen as a dictator or cancel culture. I don’t own the site; I’m someone who just enjoys pheasant hunting/habitat and engaging in this forum.

A5, I appreciate your comment (below). As with life, I don’t know if there’s a right or wrong answer to what’s right or wrong, it’s really a question for every individual user. But for this forum’s purpose, posts that are pages long talking about dropping logs or pointing guns at others while walking would be a downward slope or out of line. I think his last post was “what should you do when you’re walking and someone points a gun at you”. We should aspire more from posts than that. I think Goose puts on a show on the forum cause he gets such a reaction from the crowd. Obviously, the site is about pheasant hunting so posts should focus on that, but I will say there is a Lounge (non-pheasant hunting) section of the site where y’all can check out, especially when the season’s over for most and it’s -10 degrees out. 😁

Also, please provide & make readily accessible to all, VERY clear & specific definition of:
1. What topics can/can't be discussed.
2. Responses to every topic that are/aren't acceptable.
3. Any unacceptable words.
4. Amount of effort required for each post.
5. What constitutes a "downward slope in the site" against which users may pre-judge their posts prior to posting.
6. Similarly, what's an "upward slope"?
7. Anything else the owner & moderators feel users should know in order to promote an "upward slope".

I understand some liked Goose on here - he certainly was a personality. I, along with others felt like he had low effort posts that contributed toward a downward slope on the site with others joining in and snowballing the posts.

I’m going to lift his ban now, actually. I don’t think it’s fair he didn’t receive a warning initially. At least none that I know of.
That’s awesome

Good call. Personally I only read a few of his posts and ignore most. That said every so often he says something that makes me go whiskey tango foxtrot and I spit some of my beer out. A little weird humor never hurt anyone.

That's too bad--sorry to see the moderator give in. If you want low humor, check out Saturday Night Live. Stop and THINK: If someone like him came to YOUR farm talking nonsense, would you let him hunt?

If this is the way this site is going to ban members for non-offensive post then I will be done as well.

Pheasant season is closed. Bob will be back this Spring or Summer

Goose is/was fine. A little potty humor hurts few. Most of us have run into someone that is not law abiding… most I suppose “don’t talk about it”, stop hanging with them or at least stop hunting with them. Not sure many would have the gumption to turn them in on a small game violation.

How about Benelli Banger? I do not even see he is a forum member in search.

Change his handle/ ID ? Banned? Just faded away?

I know he said he was a large guy 3+ bills and in his 50s. So hope is at least ok
